Top Reasons I Like Trading, an Economy, and am Sick of Economy Hate Threads

What do you think it was when players buy / sell items to NPCs / Vendors in old school ARPG games that didnt support online? They are TRADING. Be it with CURRENCY or other forms, it is still trading. Just because it was not a player to another, it did not mean it didnt involve trading at its core.

Wait, what? You are comparing npc selling in game to player to player trading and economy around it and are saying its a same thing? Heh, now I am not surprised that you think its a core component of the game, as you are mixing two different mechanics

Actually, this is the only, I will repeat only arpg in diablo style that moved that way. D3 tried it and saw that focus on trading is bad and is moving away from it. Is the game online or not doesnt have to do anything with trading and it being a core mechanic.

You can say all you want that its not, but the facts are against you.

EVERY SINGLE ARPG IN HISTORY OF MAN KIND, HAS TRADING IN ITS SYSTEM.

Be it ONLINE. Play to Player. Or OFFLINE, Player to NPC.

Name a game that did involve trading in any meaningful way.

The fact is, that every arpg ever made is never ever balanced around trading, that is THE FACT. D3 tryed it and is moving away from it, also a fact.

PoE is the only arpg that is balanced around trading, the only one from all the ones I played, and I played them a lot for the past 15 years or so.

Also player to NPC is not trading and mechanic we are talking here about.People complain PoE as a game that is balanced around player to player trading, not fucking npc

Im simply showing you how trading is at the core of any ARPG that ever existed. I never said all games are balanced around trading. I said they ALL offer it in a meaningful way.

POE is not balanced around trading. Monsters are balanced around the best stats achievable by items and player level.

Drop rates in POE are based on RNG. Not trade.

Trade is there for you to sell your surplus and use it to buy things you could not find on your own.

And if you say NPC interaction is not trading, you are just plain old dumb. Its a clear trade between you and the Non Player Character. And yes it was the earliest form of meaningful trade on ARPG.
I don't understand this line of thought.

Let's say we get an SFL league and the RNG is adjusted so I can craft what I need through better drops and more currency. The time it'll take me to get a tri-elemental/chaos res belt to fill out my build, theoretically, could be two weeks.

Now let's look at the current game. I go to poe.xyz... search for the exact parameters I need... and ten minutes later I have this item that would have taken me time to farm.

And yet me and countless others, we have our gear, and we continue to play. The argument in the OP is simply flawed.

Yes it has, I never said that other games did not have trading, read my posts better.

But i will chew it for you:

There is no arpg out there, where the whole game is balanced around player to player trading, where the mechanic implemented are only there to make the economy balanced, that is a fact I am talking about. We all here are talking about player to player trading, not npc trading. Or having a option to trade with other people. The player to player trading is core part of PoE, and there is no other arpg game that does it. Again d3 tried it, saw that it is not good thing to have in arpg game and is trying to fix it.

hum.. d3 is not removing trade window on RoS. So no they are not trying to change it. They are removing the Auction House system and the reasons are obvious. Also D3 has completely failed as a whole. It was very successful in sales due to marketing and expectations. Not because it was a great game.

and refer to my previous post regarding POE revolving around trading.

PoE is balanced around trading. Drop rates ARE BALANCED AROUND TRADING, CHRIS SAID IT HIM SELF, the whole game and mechanics like luck based crafting and maps is around trading and working economy, because GGG want it to be like that. And I am talking about player to player trading.

Player to player trading is not same as player to npc trading, if you can not understand that you should not be posting in thread like this, as people have problems with balance around player to player trading.

About d3, they are actually making items not to be able to trade if you crafted them or some other good items, so they are in a way removing player to player trading for some items

Right, bind on account items. That is a TERRIBLE system. Most will agree with me. Few will disagree.

Regarding NPC trading we can drop this subject because it was just a point that trading is a core part of all ARPGS and you seem to have understood that at least.

And no, drop rates are not solely based around trading. Some things are such as Koams, and other super godly end game items that are meant for only the richest and/or luckiest players to have. If you want poe to become a "monochrome" everyone has all the best gear type of game, then I lost all respect there.

Drop rates are based on the FACT that some items are meant to be had by the masses, while others are meant to be ULTRA RARE, and only the luckiest will find or richest will buy.
