I disagree, trading was a complimentary part of this genre of game. It has become the core part because it is so overwhelmingly easier, faster, better way to gear up. These games are always about finding the best build/gear to make the content easier to beat. Trading brought it to a new level, to the detriment of longevity of the game.

WRONG. Trade is supposed to be one of the major core parts of this genre. Along with grinding for levels, player vs player, boss farming, multiplier and a few others.

Trading creates endless interaction between players who would otherwise never speak to each other. It Creates friendships and stimulates the interaction between the playerbase.

If the genre you are talking about is MMORPG. We are discussing ARPG, which used to be able to be played offline.

USED TO BE ABLE TO. good observation. The industry has moved on from this concept.

And POE is not just an ARPG. It is 100% online multiplier. Not massive open world. But its ONLINE only. So saying "We are discussing ARPG, which used to be able to be played offline" is not even relevant.

ALSO wow is an MMORPG right? It does not stop it from also being Action Role-playing game(ARPG)

Trading is a core part of arpg games xD? LOL. It for sure is not a core part, never was and never will be for arpg games in diablo style, but unfortunately it is a core part of PoE. It is the part that damages the game directly and indirectly in so many ways, and that is why so many people have problems with it.

What do you think it was when players buy / sell items to NPCs / Vendors in old school ARPG games that didnt support online? They are TRADING. Be it with CURRENCY or other forms, it is still trading. Just because it was not a player to another, it did not mean it didnt involve trading at its core.

Actually, this is the only, I will repeat only arpg in diablo style that moved that way. D3 tried it and saw that focus on trading is bad and is moving away from it. Is the game online or not doesnt have to do anything with trading and it being a core mechanic.

You can say all you want that its not, but the facts are against you.

EVERY SINGLE ARPG IN HISTORY OF MAN KIND, HAS TRADING IN ITS SYSTEM.

Be it ONLINE. Play to Player. Or OFFLINE, Player to NPC.

Name a game that did involve trading in any meaningful way.
