Don't Remove MF from the Game; Just Cut it in Half

I still really like this thread and the effort scrotie put into it.
Thanks. :)

Since it seems it's still relevant (at least to someone), I updated the graphs in the OP to reflect the area-level bonus (they were out-of-date and still based off the character-level bonus).
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I also wanna note how funny it is that one of the most prominent posters of well thought out threads goes by the name scrotum mac balls.

...that is the kind of overwhelming advantage we're talking about. This means (1+1.03)*(1+3.32)=2.03*4.32=8.77 times as many rare and unique drops than normal. Not to mention more than double currency.

This is simply wrong. You just don't know.

As long as you dont know anything about disminishing returns you are just blowing air, since in a recent discussion devs said that the numbers will remain secret all you can do is experiment.

I personnally have better drops with lower MF (especially unique drops) but that may be only my RNG over the past few days and not that a lower MF is more efficient.

For me IIR works fine, IIQ on the other hand is broken IMO, if it was removed from the game it would not bother me one single second, theres way too many items dropping already anyway.
Great post, read through a few pages, it's pretty hilarious how many people rage and throw terms like communist around like this is a fucking political movement(its a game) without actually fully reading the op and without a basic understanding of mathematics.

I think it's lame to have to have a culler in every group (otherwise you are just fucking yourself over) for the loss of drops, and the way it fucks the pace up, fast is fun fast and then ...........wait wait wait sit there don't attack (don't leech, lose buffs/charges) while some under geared (dpswise) tries to widdle down that last 1 or 2 percent to get a cull off is terrible for the gameplay. And add to this if your have great dps and obliterate some mobs instead of feeling good about that it's turned into a negative for not just you but you've negatively impacted 5 other players gaming experience.

Personally I think MF should be for solo play only(or at least penalized in groups), if you want to get $ make an mf char. The only reason MF is currently forced into docks is because of chaos dmg and the existence of shavronne's. If there was no shavronne's or even wondertraps for that matter there wouldn't be this much of a problem because these builds wouldn't be viable to begin with.

That's just how I feel about MF I guess but I like your post at least it would make the current system better although still not very ideal.

p.s. I've never seen boots with higher than 32% mf(rares) there isn't one currently on indexer for any league with 33 min mf(unless they're really that rare, highly doubt this)

Edit - Removed apparently you already know and are just choosing to ignore the giant fact named Diminishing Returns, have fun and carry on with your crusade.

I admit that significant diminishing returns would indeed change many of the numbers here. However, it would not change the principle.

What I'm suggesting is:
1) Halve IIQ and IIR from all sources
2) Remove diminishing returns. Hidden formulas for stuff like this? Gay.
3) Readjust base drop rates to compensate, in the same spirit (but likely not quite the same values) as all the math in the OP.

I understand what you are suggesting, however if there isn't a very noticeable increase when equipping IIR/IIQ gear then what would be the point at all?

I do however agree with diminishing returns being "Gay" but if you take a look back at what this game was striving for, which was basically an improved Diablo II it also had Diminishing returns on MF as well as the chance to obtain ludicrous MF numbers like 500% increased rarity.

What I truly think is having both IIR and IIQ is really throwing people off and claiming certain builds are OP never knowing what any "Breaking Points" are so to speak. When in reality they could really be gimping them selves by having that much and sacrificing clear speed.

All n all what really isn't avoidable is that in the past thats always how it's been on games like this, you have a magic find character and a "Main" or Pvp Character if thats what you are into. Now if everything were to be cut in half there would be no point in trying to make an efficient magic finding build, Every build would be and it would inflate the economy very drastically.
