Why I'm quitting PoE and no longer recommending it to friends
To me this thread was mainly about finding a progressive way to gain 6L which is still proportional to its current rarity. I can conclude that everyone SEEMS to agree but I get a little confused about which posters agree or what they are arguing for. All I can say is the progressive way to get 6L MUST cost more orbs than relying on chance because you are taking 0 risk for a great reward.
Since I have made my point and no one is coming up with better ideas than the recipe, I don't think I need to post here any more. |

" Very well put. I'm a bit concerned about how people seem to think that requiring 1500+ fusing for a single 6L is a good idea. I already have a job, not interested in having a second one just to progress in a game. Maybe that just means that PoE isn't my cup of tea after all, even though I certainly enjoyed it through all four difficulty levels. It's just that I already did all the "second job" grinding for game progress I'm ever going to do, way back in Everquest. |

"No one thinks this is good idea. Trying to get 6L with fusings is a bad idea at all and it is not needed to progress in this game. How the hell you got this all wrong? Fusings are not worthless as currency. They allow to make 3L very easily on any shields and 1h weapons, 4L pretty easily too and even 5L if you are ready to use a lot of them. " Why do you think you deserve a 6L, the very best there is, when you cannot put much time into the game? Disregard witches, aquire currency.
|

" Deserve? I see this game (any game actually) as entertainment - something that is supposed to be fun - not as a means to prove myself to others. I don't expect to immediately be handed a 6L when I want one - by "fun" I don't mean instant gratification or a game void of challenge. I just don't see any added value in having to grind for weeks for a single upgrade in the context of a computer game. In fact, since a 6L is a big step in character progression, which this type of game is wholly dependent on, I see such a grind as show stopper (for me). |

So you say any item should be achieveable for everybody, no matter how much time they (don't) put in?
Disregard witches, aquire currency.

" Nope. Some time investment should of course be required, otherwise the game ends immediately. Better items should appear as more time is invested, since character progression over time is everything. But I think it's better to design a game with an entertainment focus, instead of actively and openly designing a combination of a treadmill and a slot machine. It will in essence be what you end up with either way, the difference being that the less obvious it is to the player, the more fun a game (IMHO). |

" That depends on how you define progress. Pretty soon (comparatively speaking), you will be forced to repeat content (or run new randomized content) meaning that character progression is basically all that counts. Getting 6L is a substantial part of that character progression, whether or not you actually need it is irrelevant. |

" I am thinking you miss the point. we aren't talking about individual items like say getting all the unique items or getting super rares we are talking about skills , we are talking about a part of the game that should be a consistent gradual progression. if you want a decent example. it would be like playing diablo 3 where in order to unlock your 6th skill slot you would need to spend 10 million in gold crafting an item or consumable item that granted you it. aww you want to beat inferno ? need that 6th slot , well go #$%$ off cause that 6th slot is a "luxury" and you haven't accumulated the vast amount of currency needed to piss away gambling for that 6th slot which has less than 1% chances of happening. the slots are a core part of the game , not ancillary part I should not be denied what is technically the logical next step in a core mechanic because i don't have the insane amounts of time and resources to fritter away on gambling. gambling is not a positive thing , it is a wholly destructive and negative thing. Especially when said gambling is so rigged. |

" What progress are you talking about? When you hit lvl 60 only progress is lvl up and getting better gear. If getting better gear is progress then getting 6L would be progress. If you struggle for a month trying to both farm it and fuse it, MAYBE buy it (very high price, you might not be able to afford it) and fail to do so - then you are essentially making no progress. You fell like... ..you are doing Sisif's work... OP was right, maps are not endgame, Crafting/getting (6L chestin his case) is. Maps give you more maps but they don't indulge player with more crafting mats then they, players, would normally be able to get doing, let's say The Ledge runs. Actually, TL runs are faster and bear no risk of loosing XP. "Path of Exile be a online Action RPG set up in tha dark fantasy ghetto of Wraeclast. Well shiiiit..."
