Remove MF completely from game
" nah bro, You might not make that decision, but not all of us are looking for a treadmill to take us to loot land. If certain specs make magic find too easy, nerf their innate magic find, It is a pretty simple calculation really. " Again, two builds are pulled out of the pack as 'too easy to play'. I dont think there is anything to be done about their play style. They cant be nerfed too much or they wont work at all, and I dont think that is the desired recourse. They have to be less rewarding to play, it is the only thing that makes those specs stick out, they are too rewarding to play. Nerf THOSE spec's innate magic find. Nothing else about magic find is broken. People are complaining that putting on magic find to farm cruel merveil or something seems too tempting, and that people are not doing end game content. I just dont see that being the case, by and large. Just the people running multibox set ups pretty much would be my guess. I think some fixes tailored specifically for the leeches sucking the life out the game is the best bet here. Make dual totems and lesserly summoners have less innate magic find than other builds. MAke magic find from gear not work in zones so far under leveled from the player. I would suggest adding some innate MF to some melee nodes, but I think it would be exploited by the leeches in game, and would be a terrible idea. Hey...is this thing on? " I am seriously confused after reading how confused you are about magic find. No build ever in Path of Exile has any innate magic find. But there are builds that magic find heavily favors making any other build undesirable. And this is the problem we try to solve in the first place. As far as I understand your point, you would prefer kill speed before magic find, because you don't care about loot. I took this way as well, played solo, and was unable to see any upgrades for like 20 levels on my HC witch, and I eventually died at 83 because I didn't have enough item power to run more difficult map affixes I suppose. Next time I partied with MF sporker for like 7-8 levels, got some crucial upgrades, and ranked 23 in one-month party race. You can read about my experience here. "Can you tell some of your experience you do base this on. If, as you say, you prefer kill speed over going magic find long term, you should have at least several high level characters to prove your point. Thanks for your interest to the topic, but please share with us - what do you base your thinking of "magic find is fine" on? |

" Exactly my point. So make THESE Builds have negative innate magic find. " what are you even talking about? That is not at all what I said. You said nodoby plays anything but dual totem due to magic find. I said that is untrue because not everyone wants a treadmill to loot land. I choose builds that I find fun. Then I try my best to get gear that has a good mix of offense/defense/and magic find. I dont want a treadmill to loot land. I want a build I enjoy playing that I need to make choice in gear between offense/defense/and magic find. And I am doing that currently. I dont have the compulsion that I must play a dual totem magic find character, but I understand that people are somehow being compelled to play a build like that. Make the build less attractive by making it have less magic find innately, to help these people kick their compulsion towards the build. Even if you remove magic find totally, this build will compel people to play it due it it just being easier, and people want the easy option. Make the easy option less rewarding than all the other options to help with this lame compulsion people are describing. Hey...is this thing on? Last edited by LostForm#2813 on Jul 1, 2013, 9:27:31 AM

" Correct me if I'm wrong, but were you not talking about how loot options sucks because people always pick the easiest way to get loot? If that is true, doesn't the same principle apply here? |

GGG should just remove everything.
Passive tree is too complicated. MF is too restrictive. Items should just roll prefect stats. I don't see the problem here. We should just have the easy mode options for 'those' kinds of people who don't have time nor the will to enjoy playing this game. This game should cater to everyone. :D |
|
GGG would still be better have something left.
Passive tree gives you field for learning to be better in this game. MF significantly reduces the options that are good. Items with perfect stats are actually the reward for you playing the game. So the problem you don't yet see is removing choices from an awesome skill tree due to mandatory mechanics. Enjoying the game is irrelevant to having redundant stale mechanics. This game is actually quite nice catering to different types of players already. Hope you enjoy it! :D |

" Redundant as in wanting to stack MF in hopes of better drops? Isn't that the point? Last edited by Vooodu#7002 on Jul 1, 2013, 12:17:28 PM

So in the case of "adding choices" why didnt GGG add MF to the passive tree? Because people would treat it like MF on gear and EVERYONE would put there points into it instead of using the tree as it is. Look at it.. MF has become the MUST HAVE STAT that every build tries to accommodate.
In my opinion and as far as I can tell from most of the people who have posted supporting this thread any stat that is a MUST HAVE is a bad stat. True build variety comes from removing MUST HAVES so that people can focus on synergy of combining many different stats. As it currently sits people cannot play to win and must either make a MF toon or somehow accommodate MF into their build in order to be able to trade in any viable way. " Because it has nearly no drawback to take these nodes on the upper end of a build? Because you'd have to spread them (nearly) equal to have them in reach for each class? Its much more efficient to put this on some parts of gear, and its enough so. " Isnt it the same for Life, at least for the very most of builds (all but one) Life is too mandatory, lets remove it! ^^ Never forget: you CAN play and enjoyment perfectly without any % of MF (at least if you dont frustrate yourself) - there are MUCH more stats that are MUCH more important - if your goal is not to grab some richness (no matter if you "need" it for your map sustaining or whatever). invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

" Removing or rebalancing magic find would make it more difficult to get loot from my perspective. So how is that making the game easier? Easy is my running my full magic find build all of the time which is how I currently feel compelled to play. Standard Forever
