Remove MF completely from game
" I only started in open beta so I never saw those times but man I'd love to know what has changed between then and now. Partly it has to be community... a closed beta community is not like a public community. But I'm curious about mechanics changes which might have also contributed (any alpha or CB folks care to comment?) Granted, I like farming for gear even when I don't need it. At times it's a relaxing, zen-like thing. But honestly I wish I could just "play the game and have fun and try new builds." I just have no clue how to do that without either doing massive farming... massive even to a guy who loves farming... or alternately grouping/trading which is never going to happen with me. Personally I suspect I'd have been more open to engaging with other players in closed beta when it actually WAS a community. Now it's just a bunch of strangers preying on each other and I don't like PvP. I don't trade. I don't group. My comments reflect that.

You'll be happy to know that the perceived need to play MF, low loot/map drop rates, excessive dependency on trading to acquire wealth have caused at least one person to leave your game. MF is evil.
POE could have been fun, but it's been near impossible to participate in crafting (using eternals and exalts regularly!??), making builds you want (when crucial pieces cost exalts!??), playing the maps you want (without paying through the roof to maintain your pool!??), etc. Congratulations. You have succeeded in making a REALLY hardcore game that takes an incredible amount of time to succeed. I did not have the drive to make a second "decent" character. Anyways, I'll be taking a long break. POE was fun for 8 months. Talk is cheap, so I'll be making my point through (in)action. Toupy - Lv93 Facebreaker Cyclone Duelist

" Out of all your complaints (which are to a substantial extent valid), not one has anything to do with MF as such. As I've posted before: it's the combination of the loot system, trading system/economy, crafting system and so on... and for some reason people blame one of the systems that works (at least much better than all of the above). |

" The purpose was defeated the moment incentive was given to play a not fun build. People should play spork builds because they find them fun, not because they give MF. People that enjoy other playstyles should not be penalized for not enjoying a very specific playstyle. All well thought out and balanced builds should be both fun and rewarding. " Which specific build is not fun for you and why do you feel so compelled to play it if it's not fun? |

" Totem builds. I do not play them, but incentive is given for me to do so. Incentive as in levels of MF that I would not be able to achieve on builds I do enjoy, namely melee builds. MF I'd need to continue passing the game's gear checks on the builds I do enjoy. Let's be honest, how many people are playing MF sporkers because they genuinely enjoy the playstyle and how many to give them MF they can't attain on other characters so they can farm gear and currency? If the latter isn't 0 then I think we have a problem. All well thought out and intelligent builds, regardless of playstyle, should be able to farm gear and currency effectively. This is an aRPG, farming is a good part of the game. Certain playstyles being barred from that part of the game is an imbalance that needs fixing. Either a situation needs to be achieved where melee MF, self-casted MF, bow MF, totem MF, minion MF etc. are all equally viable or MF should just be removed or severely nerfed. " Do you feel such strong incentive to play, for example, a duelist because you can get 30k DPS with it? Is it really all about the loot? What's stopping you from playing in a party with someone who's playing a MF build? Can you give us specific examples of what a melee/ranged character would sacrifice for higher MF that a "totem build" doesn't have to? What is a high level of MF to you? I have a feeling that this is just going to end up as a complaint about a very specific low life build utilizing a very specific rare and expensive item, not a complaint about MF. And as far as I know, they have to sacrifice at least some stats to run high MF too. |

" Don't feel incentive to play a 30k DPS duelist because I feel high damage is something that can be achieved on other builds as well, perhaps not 30k but still high. Also in part because I personally enjoy more defensive orientated builds, sword and board builds if you will. On top of that I prefer soloing and taking things at my own pace. So I'd prefer not to play with someone using a MF build and see no reason why game mechanics should require me to do so. A totem build has in-built defenses. Your totems life doesn't scale off your gear and they draw agro very well. Your totems mana doesn't scale off your gear and is pretty much infinite. As such a totem build doesn't need defensive stats as much as other builds, besides summoners, nor do they need to invest nearly as much in either mana or life regen/leech combined with blood magic. All of this frees up a lot and leaves room to go all out on magic find. I don't play low-life builds. I play highly defensive sword and board builds ( and no, I'm not face-tanking with them nor do I expect to ). I can't skimp on defensive stats to get extra MF. I can't skimp on some mana leech to power my skills. I don't use any expensive or rare items, I'm just using what I find. Which, with me being unable to skimp on other stats in favor of MF ( although I try wherever I can ) means my items increasingly fall behind as I face more and more challenging content. what about implement the old charms from d2?. Say if you want more MF you collect charms in inventory but the more charms the less space you got for rare items. Iunno just my 2 cents probably bad idea but whatevs i just also feel that mf is kinda a catch 22 for good character builds right now aswell

" Their endless bitching about Power siphon which is designed to Culling strike - and they tell me to change to Elemental hit. In most cast I end up leaving the groups - their absolute loss, I even leave rares and unique bosses for their killing blow. My build includes Conduit, they should be more than happy that I cull. |
