POSSIBLE BSOD Portcls fix for Creative X-fi's--NEEDS TESTING.

apparently my BSOD is very "moody". While traveling around, I can sometime go on for hours and days without a BSOD, and sometimes a few times within one sitting. the only time i 100% get a BSOD is when i enter into Church Dungeon 1.

i also use Creative SB X-Fi, and from what i can tell so far, it seems that the most likely reason for BSOD is creative soundcards correct? now i'm wondering if this is a problem because of PoE, or is it simply because Creative soundcards have problems?

edit1: i will try no-sound for now, hoping for a more permanent fix soon

I have an X-Fi Xtremegamer, which does not have any XRAM on it. With sound enabled, I get a BSOD about once in every two days. This registry value was apparently already present and has not solved the issue for me. I'm on the latest drivers for my card.

For now I am playing without sound (no BSOD with --nosound yet), but if there are any other possible fixes I will try again.
Using these drivers fixed it for me:

Not all cards are supported, but mine is. Creative Audigy 2 ZS.
so far so good, i tried using the regedit method, and i was able to enter church dungeon 1 without BSOD problem, will update if problem persists.

my specs, just fyi, is:

intel quad-core Q9550 2.83GHz
mem: 4gb
OS: win7 ultimate 64-bit
gfx: nvidia Geforce GTX 260 superclocked
soundcard: creative SB X-Fi
I tried this registry fix today. Played nearly 8 hours straight. No more BSODS!!! :D I can't thank you enough for this fix Falkentyne! :)

I got an X-Fi Titanium and I already had drivers installed from X-Fi Support Pack 2.5 before I started playing PoE. Before applying this fix, when I executed Skype while the game is running in the background, I was getting an instant BSOD, even with those drivers installed. After applying this fix, I tried to recreate to situation as well, thankfully without success :)

Thanks a lot!

the BSOD is back =( i feel like BSOD is like allergy, as long as u don't sneeze ur fine, but the moment u start sneezing (BSODing in this case), it happens over and over again......... =(

hope whoever's responsible for fixing this (be it PoE or creative) get around it
Had 2 entries in "Driver" and I added the DisableXRAM string to both.

- PCI&VEN_1102&DEV_0005
- PCI&VEN_1102&DEV_000B

DisableXRRAMOnASIO REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0)

The above was already present in the 000B. I changed its value to 1 as well just to see if it would do anything.

End result was a Bsod after about 45min/hour. It occurred when I used a waypiont.

edit:
I have a X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion card.

Sadly the regedit fix didn't work for me. Got a BSOD when changing areas. My card is Creative SB X-Fi.
I have the PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium.

So far this fix is working. Thank you!
I had many BSODs during the Public Stresstest Weekend, but now I got my Beta Invite and deleted my "old" Creative driver for the XFi Fatality Titanium Professional with Driver Cleaner Pro (Freeware) and installed the latest Beta Driver and it WORKS!
No BSODs since I am playing the Beta! :D
