POSSIBLE BSOD Portcls fix for Creative X-fi's--NEEDS TESTING.

"
Thanks for this, I've been getting BSOD crashes especially on loading new zones. I'll give it a shot and report back!

Didn't work for me unfortunately, just got a BSOD :(
Someone commented earlier that they had also turned off Post Processing in the video options to see if that would help. I'd forgotten I'd tried that as well, so I turned it back on and played for several hours without any BSODs. The latest beta Creative drivers seemed to do the trick for me.
I lift things up and put them down
tried this fix, new drivers, still having bsod :/ most of the time it's when entering new zones.
The regedit modification didn't work for me
Trying new drivers now
Shouldn't the added "DisableXRAM" value be of type DWORD instead of STRING, like the rest in that folder/key? Could this make a difference?

Edit: Didn't work. ;(
Edit2: Downloaded latest beta drivers, no BSODs so far (will update if I get one).

also having this issue

sys:

msi 990fxa gd80
amd 1100T @ 3.7 no turbo
ati 1gb 6950
4 GB hyperblue
CL x-fi fatal
no ssd

found a way where i could force the crash every time just by opening vent and connecting to a server with game alt tabed.

tried just the beta drivers and was still happening. added the disable xram to the reg and seems to have worked. vent not crashing when i try to open/connect with game running.

on a side note, vent used to hang up the first time i connected to a server, its not doing that anymore, bonus!

will test further and update if bsod returns

thx to all at GGG, amazing game and interaction, keep up the great work

I have BSOD problem too. And yes, I have X-fi ExtremeMusic pci card and win7 64.
My config:
Intel quad Q9450 (3ghz/4core)
corsair 1333 DDR3 4gb
AMD HD 7970 3gb
Motherboard: Gigabyte ga-x48-tdq6
and X-FI Extreme Music
HDD: Seagate barracuda 3tb. (100gb sistem, 2tb store, 800gb work/game partitions.)

I try the latest beta drive 2.18.15A and re install win7, full new partition, latest drivers and the beta driver is not solve the problem :(
BSOD error is: "writing pagefile in a non paged area" or something like that.
And always get in a same point, when im stepping in a temple catacomb lvl1 in act2. loading the mapp and crash.
I hope resolve the problem in the near future, I would like to see the other parts of the game, and playing highed lvl then 26.

Good play for everyone! :)

I get the BSOD also when entering new areas, however, I can progress further after the restart and I have a Creative Audigy 2. I tried the registry edit but that didn't work. I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit).
The good with the bad.

I took an earlier post's suggestion and replaced my drivers with the beta drivers. The good part is no more BSOD. The bad part is sound stopped working altogether just for POE. System sound still functions for all other programs.

But I guess I can live without sound until I figure it out.

Anyone else run into this?

I tried about every suggestion given on this thread and a few others on the forums but I finally got to play again with sound and no crashes. I rolled my drivers back to the Windows default drivers for High Definition Audio Device and was able to play since then without a BSOD.

maybe this will work for others.

I still have one of those old Audigy 2 ZS things... they are apparently not using XRAM, so this fix won't work for me anyway :(
