It's not melee damage that needs to be fix. It's melee defense. The problem is two fold. It both the players and developers fault. Players will not pick defense in a melee build. That's why they die a lot. Developer encourage more DPS which lead to player getting more DPS for melee instead of defense.

The developers can't change players behavior. That's impossible. What they can do is make getting both defense and offense painlessly. That's not going to happen tho. Not in this game.

Can't blame them. They spend a lot of time and currency getting it. GGG screwed them over.

True, and I hate to sound all cliche, but this is a beta. If you go super-duper hard now and 24/7ing the game to stack mountains of currency and items, it's only your own fault if balance patches come through and make them irrelevant.

We're just here testing this stuff out, it's not gonna be untouched forever.

This life nerf doesn't change a thing. You know why? Like everything the least resistant is the path most taken. Life is the least resistant. Life is global protection in all games.

All this patch does is pissed a lot of dictated players and drive them away from the game. The other well they come and go like flies. If your main player base is gone you won't have much left.

This is an always changing online game. Most 'dictated' players know this so they don't leave the game over it :)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

While true, you don't need always need global protection, it's just what people gravitate toward when they don't know what to expect from the enemies and when going with global protection is more efficient. The latter won't be true in 0.11.

Thinking this way is what actually kills a game, lets cater to the few so called "hardcore" players, screw everyone else because the 1% of you make of the majority of the community right.
I wonder what magnitude the life node nerf will be. Perhaps from 8% to 6% or 5%? Cutting life nodes by half seems rather extreme unless monster damage nerf is more than a measly 5-10%. Even a 25% monster dmg nerf is still not going to mean anything when a boss crits you with 30% more unique boss damage and vulnerability.

I think the better solution would have been to somehow scale ultra high damage so you arent constantly faced with 1-hit deaths.
