everyones jumping to conclusions based on fears.
Some people are presuming the changes to monster damage will not match the changes to health and the game will be hard. Some people presume the changes to damage will outstrip the changes to health and the game will become easier. Some think we wont need to spec survival now. Some think we will need to spec more survival, and its always the WORST possible outcome, which ever is the worst situation in your opinion IS the one that's coming.
Truth is they're changing player defence and monster offence, these 2 work against each other, we have no idea what the over all situation will be, how much health will be on offer, how much we will need to cover the damage we take, how armour, ev and es are going to mitigate. We just don't know which one got nerfed more, how it got nerfed, in what areas it got hit the hardest.
Right now its just wild speculation and everyone saying 'how it will be' really doesn't know. One of you is probably right but that doesn't change the fact that right now, you don't know what you are talking about. People are crying about the game being made impossibly hard and people crying the game being made casual noob friendly/easy in the same thread talking about the same mechanics changes which none of us have actually played.

If you have less life% from passive tree, you will definetly want more raw life from gear.

Again: life from gear is competing against dps affixes on gloves, rings and necklaces. The choice is far from obvious.
I will attempt to maximize life*dps for simplicity.

well hopefully they will re balance EVERYTHING life related
- cost of skills
- reservation from auras (for non % ones)
just 2 of the main things.

irrelevant since you still need the same life/damage ratio.. so amount of life nodes required wont change... instead khaoms will be a must have

why will you still need the same life/damage ratio? Has the life/damage ratio of the enemies you face stayed exactly the same? Has the value of a life node and a damage node changed? Oh ya, it has all changed, and we dont know to what extent, so you dont really know anything yet.

im probably gonna start all over again i mean defenses get buffed that might mean that block nodes get buffed as well if that's the case bringer of rain might be nice but no longer neccesary for my block build
meh gonna wait till the 8th and start playing again so i have some time to theory craft my builds for onslaught i would have played anarchy if it was HC but its not so yea..

Considering those two work together exponentially, it's normally exactly the other way around.
Kaom's on a character with only 100% increased life adds 2000 life. On a character with 300% increase life, it adds 4000. Seems to me that the more life you have on gear, the more life passives you want.
