Game has dropped in popularity to closed beta level

Wait... When your system is obviously not made for gaming (although maybe it was once upon a time), how can you blame technical problems? 2 GB Ram? Dual-core? I'm not here to slam your system, I happen to still be running a dual-core as well. But come on man, it's time to upgrade. The only reason my old dual-core keeps up anymore is because it's overclocked to hell and back, decent ram, and a decent video card.

But when you say you're running a win32 system with 2 GB ram, and on a good day you get 10 FPS, I don't think the problem lies with GGG. Just saying.

Guess you did not get it: Many people love to play PoE, but are not interested in running many games. So we have two or three games on our PC.

BUT: As soon as a company offers a game for F2P they MUST have as many users as possible, because only a small percentage of these users are ready to pay sth for the game, even if they like it. Means the company has to create the technics in a way that allows the most possible amount of users to play the full extend ( hope this is the right word), even if they have a suboptimal system. Its just for the health of GGG financies, and should for sure be the very first goal in a F2P, especially with the very fair system of PoE.

The number of players decreased but what´s the problem?
Every day many games arise and people experience it, the competition is high. Also the game content has changed little over time, and sickens no matter how you like.

If you want to cater to people who have computers from the last century, you have to make your game look ugly as hell. I don't want PoE to look like Runescape :(
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

honestly, i wouldn't mind if this game died. ggg made a valiant effort to create something special, but i honestly just don't think they succeeded. this is an amazing game "ON PAPER", and it has its moments, but to be honest, i just don't think its all that fun to play. i would rather have a game half as complex, and twice as much fun. i would be pretty shocked if this game ever reached a consistently high volume of players.

well, it's got +2 more players -- me an my buddy.

I'm on my 3rd character now, which I don't ever do on a game like this.
usually it's one playthrough and done.
I like the game, I really do. But I play off and on. I play for a month, then stop for a month.

However..

I started playing again like a week ago. But this time after coming back I find it almost impossible to find a game to join. The list of public games has dropped significantly, and I cant even find groups to complete content so am forced to play alone. Even if I create a game no one joins it. This has also made trading a mind numbing experience. I have been trying to buy a GMP for a whole week now by posting in trade chat, and replying to selling threads here on the website. In 7 days no luck. This I believe to be a side affect of less and less ppl playing the game.

I see new players in chat asking noob questions all the time. So the game is still pulling new ppl in all the time.. obviously. But how many of these players are actually sticking around, and why are they leaving? I think this is what needs to be figured out.

The main reason I stop playing when I do is during that period between level 50 - 66. During that level gap your character becomes more dependent on gear, and gem combo's. Then you end up spending hours either grinding boring content over and over, or attempting to make trades with the vast amount of currency you have built up. Both I find very.... for lack of a better word.. not fun. It is not fun to stand in town trying to make trades with the trade system that is available, and it is not fun running docks, fellshinre, ledge, etc, etc, over and over. I am in no way saying they should make obtaining items easier or faster, but instead making some more dynamic content available to players of all levels to make grinding feel less grindy.

Yes, there was a very huge drop in users.

But what I saw mainly is, that a lot of people left because of technical problems.

I run a win32 system with 2 gb RAM and up to now I cannot solve certain areas without help. Best example: Piety! As soon as she dies my system crashes, as well in solo, as well in Group. So I must be very tricky to get my keys from her. But thank god, up to now I always found help from people, even if sometimes it took very long.

Furthermore I run normally with about 10fps and it is impossible to take part in races or do a normal group-game. Other games are going pretty well on my dualcore-system. Thats why I think at least half of the players who left, did it because of the technical impossibility of playing the game in full aspects.

GGG YOU SHOULD REALLY WORK ABOUT THE TECHNICS!!!!

there are quite a few people in tech support forum having problems with newer video cards, but I doubt half the players were using a 10 yr old win32 system with 2 gb ram.

I also have an older computer, and it actually runs better than I'd expect it to, and has crashed only once (on a load screen), which puts it way the fuck up on torchlight 2.

I don't know if you've already done this, but I'd suggest reading around in the tech support forum for a few tips and tweaks that might help you.
you aren't going to get 50 fps, but it can be playable.
Our traffic is currently on average what traffic was at PEAK TIMES during closed beta. It's safe to assume that while Hype has died down, they have approximately doubled their average playerbase.

But the game has to stop being a AOE/TOTEM spam fest. Thats for sure.

I agree, spark summonners should be nerfed, it´s horrible to play with them.

Game is great. Friends and I still really enjoying it. All the people I convinced to try still play.

This will be a game people keep coming back to.
It's really fantastic what they have accomplished so far.
Though it would be fantastic if desync would disappear.
Dsync, class/skill/passive tree balance, combat feedback feels off, crafting is RNG madness

lack of graphic artist in the ggg house (my last information is that only one brave man working on all the 3d models and animations, correct me if i´m wrong)

lack of beginner tutorials
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?
