Game has dropped in popularity to closed beta level

poue sucks, cuz:

1) kaoms heart exists

2) map drop rates

3) unrewarding drops, too much gamble

4) static gameplay

5) melee sucks

what did ggg against that in 3 months? nothing.

so if my calculations are correct we got about another month of "game is dead\dying posts" before the last of the noobs leave and we can have our game back.

You can almost set your watch to these cycles forums go through with a new game.

1. first they all love it
2. then they play long enough to see some issues but are still mostly happy but you will start to see more negative threads,
3.now its been a couple months most of the playerbase is at what they like to call "end game". a lot of balance issues are coming up, they ask for fixes, about a month goes by some things are getting fixed some problems still exist but its not enough so now you see the classic "devs aren't listening threads and countless "I quit" threads.
4. devs respond to these accusations try to make these impatient children understand things don't happen instantaneously in the real world and some problems are more difficult then they think.
5.now you see "the game is dying\dead" threads mostly quote something stupid like xfire or some other random source. statistic nerds argue endlessly about whether this can be taken seriously.
6. finally most of the crybabies, fad of the months players have left and the community and the game can get back to normal and those that like the game enjoy it for many years to come!

Typical fanboy response with immature flaming and name calling...you are part of the problem with this community. Listen, don't get so defensive man ..whats happening here is a real problem, nobody is bashing this game...i love this game too but we ALL notice this drop in playerbase..it sucks and we hate it and we hope the situation gets better and that we get tons of new people in time..no need to call others noobs, children,crybabies...etc ..thats so immature...shame on you.

A new game is released to the public. A lot of people try it. Some like it, some don't, many stop playing after a while. I think I've heard of that before...Oh right, this happens to every single game out there! Yes, there are a lot less players right now than back in January. But that was to be expected.
Yes, there are problems with this game. We know about it and so do the developers. Time will pass and eventually they will be fixed. But unfortunately it's not as easy as a lot of people tend to believe.

The real problem is people like this:

Why would you even post in the forums if you don't like the game? Your 'feedback' does not help in the slightest and your post is completely useless. What's so hard about just accepting that you don't like the game and let it be. Play other games, do other stuff. Your post won't make the game better nor does it contribute to the game or the community in any other way.

Ouch.

Try adding more affixes on rare items. Might help.

Also a new microtransaction for clown shoes, and a couple hundred more broken unique items. Always works.

I find humor in this. I still visit the site rather often hoping to read about the desync patch I've been waiting for ever for, but uninstalled months ago. I read something about better resync code in the next major patch coming, so I got it re installed and ready to test whenever that comes, here's to hoping!

If your wanting to compare actual players in the game from closed and now you'd probably be better off looking at how many are showing up for races (http://poestatistics.com/ for example). Some of them do drop to what we had in closed, but considering how many more races there are Id say theres still far more players now then there was in closed. Its surly not growing like it has the potential to though.

In my opinion... No game can increase its player base over time with the network issues in this one, no matter how great it is. Imagine if WoW had half the desync this game has when it came out.

The economy would probably be a lot better if it wasn't for rampant exploiting (legal or non legal) going on in the game. With people RMT/botting/multiloading/boxing etc you end up with a flooded economy. If that stuff didn't exist then maybe good uniques would hold value longer instead of consistently tanking in about a month or 2. Look at alpha howl and think about what it was worth when it was first released and what its worth now.

THIS ...kinda sad to see that 90% in this game are near WORTHLESS (the new patch to increase drops made it even worse)

People keep saying this but nobody provides any proof that these things have a considerable impact on the economy. Especially in hardcore I think the impact is close to 0.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Great proof bro I totally believe it now.

Player count isn't the direct issue, it's how much money the players who are playing are putting in. If that remains consistent then there's no end in sight for PoE. As someone who plays rarely in public groups, often alone and occasionally with friends... I don't mind just how many players are playing PoE with the above provision considered.

What the guy above me said.

I really could care less, and really dont know why people care so much for how many people play the same game. Its not like my solo and friend runs get any better while knowing 100k+ people are playing the same game right now.

I have a blast with poe. i will buy a stash upgrade. i will continue to play this game until im satisfied. Then i will quit it and play other games. Thats how it always was. buy game-> play it -> buy new game -> repeat. PoE will not become worse without me. It will stay a superb game and i hope lots of people will enjoy it as much as i do. maybe they will buy a stash too.

But i can understand when some of those internet nerds are looking for a game to marry and play til they die happy ever after lol.
