Theres lots of talk about "what are you gonna do once you finally get it?" or "the game ends when you finish upgrading".
I think this is a very softcore mentality of looking at PoE. On hardcore theres always one or more moments when im doing 75+ maps where i breath in sharply, muscles tense up, spamm all my potions bar buttons, and i end up narrowly avoiding death whilst one of my friends perishes to the abyss, and I LOVE that about this game (or about hardcore?). Farming maps, rolling the maps to get quantity bonuses i think are going to benefit me, deciding on risk vrs reward with map mods to get what i want, and ofcourse the people im doing the maps with are all aspects that are above simply upgrading my own character. that being said my character isn't geared to the tits with uniques, i rely on certin rares that could always be better in some way and maybe ill find something that is better, heck maybe i can find a ring better then andvarius's if i get lucky enough. so really dont say getting 6 link is the end of the game then you quit anyways.... its just silly Last edited by Torontocanada#4825 on May 16, 2013, 3:22:48 PM

" It isn't that 6L would be the end in and of itself but the mentality that the item must be this way is what kills the game. Much like getting "AWESOMEITEMX" wouldn't be the end of the game, but if your goal was to get this item, and you quit because you never got it, then you did it wrong to begin with. Then again I've been playing games like this as puzzles for years so I'm far more used to adaptive improvising than many people I come across in games like this. The risk of death though is what makes games like this worth playing and you play on harder difficulties for that rush, no? Still the core game won't just give you what you want; if anything it would be harder to achieve, or should be anyway, as that's why you cranked the difficulty in the first place, right? Nope. You want a totally different game. |

Don't craft! Save your orbs and buy what you need so much easier
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.
Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :( Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt. |

i don't think people are properly understanding what a 6-Link represents
it isn't just "some item" you need. the amount of links on your main piece is a measure of how far in this games "skil tree" you are. we have skill gems. you can liken how linked up they are to the depth of how far you are in the skill tree. most people tie skill trees to levels. d2 did. you progressed through the skills by leveling. this game you progress through them by getting proressively more links on your item. sure, passives may help. sure you ened things like mana, hp, etc, and other interactions to "run" your skills but at the end of the day, getting a 6L on your usable gear amounts to just hitting the final tier on the skill tree. it is NOT the end of the game lol. there is still endless experimentation, new items to find, new gems to test and link...perhaps orbs of regret will be spent even to twist the build into a different direction, who knows. i do know that the frustration is not coming from them being too difficult to acquire, but rather too inconsistent to acquire. tying your progression through the skill tree to rng is as far as i know unprecedented in games, or at the least i cannot think of one. |

This game really isn't a rpg game, instead it's a TRADING game. Sure, grinding is typically part of the game, but with every single other game, grinding gives you results (aka better gear), here NOPE, no such thing or extremely rare. Some gems needed for builds you will never see. So...you are required to trade to get what is needed. Other games, you just go find it instead. And the end game (final boss) is ... GASP!!!! the end game...SURPRISE!!!! Maps isn't a goal, just extra play AFTER the game is finished. Fun for those about searching for stuff.
But the game isn't finished/being worked on, so you can't really hold it's faults against it ... yet. But crafting does suck, they will be changing that at least. Hopefully something far better then before. Have to wait to see. It does seem more of the patching is about adding more stuff, then fixing what is there (other then the newest patch coming out soon). Would like to see a more balancing especially evasion and armor and spells. Sad many spells are useless and not used in any build at all. And some are glitched and cause lag. Also sad that about all builds is about getting hp nodes or ES nodes, not such much about a build. Having the hp/es balanced out more would be nice as well. More focus on the build, then hp/es nodes (not really possible in this game right now). I would love to see more acts added, making the game last longer (a longer goal), being a higher level at end-game (aka final boss). Even if it means a little more 'grinding' to reach the end. |

" Do you always state your imaginings as if they were real? Can you tell the difference between when you know something and when you are just making shit up? | |
" Yes you are being a scumbag to the max because you want everybody to be just as bad off as you. If you can't get your 6L in 10 fuse THEN NOBODY ELSE SHOULD WAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!! |
