This game really isn't a rpg game, instead it's a TRADING game. Sure, grinding is typically part of the game, but with every single other game, grinding gives you results (aka better gear), here NOPE, no such thing or extremely rare.
Anyways...Agreed.
It's very wierd. It's a compelling, addictive game, about loot. But all that drops, is trash. Hours and hours of trash. Nothing useable. The odds of finding something good are so rare, that's where trading comes in.
So you grind and grind and grind and slowly accumulate wealth to BUY your gear.
Funny, I quit D3 precisely because of that bullshit.
Why Chris insists on molding this game in this fashion, on purpose I don't understand.
He gets feedback about how badly this blows ass, and goes "nope nope, working as intended tyvm"
I mean ...what the hell? Oo

Sounds like he should work at Amy's Baking Company...
I really felt the same as you Zanixx when I first started... I was like: this is the BEST POSSIBLE crafting system I've ever played. Honest: that's exactly what I thought.
But then reality sits in after about your 4th level 75... the burden of it all... the complete, non-sensical randomness of it... the complete gamble, no skill, heavy handed RNG... how every aspect of the game is complete RNG... and not in a good way either.
The slope from beginning the game... to then mid game... to then late game... and finally end game is very well put together... it will likely take normal people quite a long time to reach the point where the OP and others (such as myself) where we see through it all. Where what once was something AMAZING and FANTASTIC and REFRESHING and NEW actually becomes the downfall of "fun" in the game. If only things were relaxed in the game... if only the drop rates were better... if only the ratios for crafting loosened a bit...
I don't know what it will take to change my mind about it. It's entirely possible I'm just burned out... but looking at the MOUNTAIN in front of me to now transition from a 5L medium geared player into a 6L medium to end game gear is just.... insurmountable. The sheer volumes of time I'm going to need. And then knowing that even after putting in my time - logging 600-800 hours to collect fuses - I still have no fucking guarantee that I'll be a 6L player. - This is why players and people like me look at the log in screen and are like "fuck it" - this is what we face.
I can appreciate what you and others who follow your sentiment are saying. And i definitely am not going to sit here and say no improvements need to be made.
I guess it all boils down to the feeling some people get when it comes to min-maxing. I know its been said many many times over and some people disagree but you really don't need a 6L in this game. I've got a 78 CI witch who i retired. She had a 943es 6L chest which i crafted. It was awesome and a lot of fun having my dmg go up considerably however, i ended up selling the chest for 30exhalts and changing back to a 4L. Sure, its worse obviously but i cna still map etc just like i could with my 6L.
We're living in an age where min-maxing is concentrated on heavily and peoples patience for achieving these goals is getting thinner and thinner per game. I think the awful feeling people are having is because achieving a 6L has nothing to do with time invested necessarily. For example, if after 2000hours or playtime on a particular toon meant you got a 6L, then people would have a guarantee. 2000 hours would still be a horrendous amount of time, but so long as people can measure it, they'll generally be a lot happier. (This is not a suggestion lol).
I think the additional affixes (light radius etc) is a bit of a joke and convolutes the pool in a detrimental way. If drops in the game were far more meaningful (you actually find gear you can use on your toon more than once) then crafting would be a really fun side-game so to speak and perhaps it fits that roll more. ultimately, imo, we should be fighting demons and hordes of monsters in the hope they drop something so we can be like "wow, dudes, look at this friggin awesome axe. Jelly?" etc etc.
TLDR: Our reliance on the crafting system AND trading system is because the drops are sub-par and need to be worked on imo.
im actually really surprised at how disgruntled i am by this whole process, so much so that i cant even bring myself to play the game after completing it

The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG

I feel ya man :(
If you decide to play again, which i hope you will, just remember to stay away from dumping all your currency to 6L an item. Its as clear as day as to how difficult it is to 6L anything.
