major end game design flaw (map drop rates / currency dump)
" I said I "believe." Being as it 'seems' the loot tables are increased for mobs, and grants more opportunity for maps to drop. Indirectly contributing to map drops. Before OB, I had somewhere around 120% item quantity. I would run open pub games for maps, and if I wasn't mainly killing mobs, maps dropped less. Sooloing a map myself, I would always be in an extreme surplus. It's an observation. Last edited by PSGMud#2372 on Mar 3, 2013, 9:10:03 PM

If the map drop rate is kept low then there needs to be something else for players to do. Nobody wants to farm lower level zones with an XP penalty knowing all the loot that drops is worthless to them due to the restrictions of item level. If i'm right only the level 63 zones give high level players 100% XP (once level 68 or higher the game always uses "68" as your level for xp calculations) which means either Lunaris Temple or The Catacombs.

They should at least up the drop rate for higher level maps to drop maps of close level range.
It's ridiculous sometimes when you do a 73-75 map with 80% quantity, rare monsters and maze/pack etc. and can't even find a single lvl 66 map at the very least. " I thought how it worked was white monsters in the map would drop same level maps, blues map level+1, rares/uniques map level +2. So while i'm sorry you didnt get a map, shouldn't those maps drop equivalent level maps? |

" No, at that level they become ranges. Eg a level 73 white mob can drop a map from 66-73, a blue mob 66-74 and a rare mob 66-75. |

" Oh, ok gotcha. Well then i suppose that could be changed, just so that you're always working on taking a step forward, not backward. |

" Can we get this guy an award for biggest GGG fanboy in PoE? Literally every post ive read by this person they are defending bullshit and bad design/mechanics for no other reason than because hes a total fanboy. He also comments on balance issues while playing safe characters that play from range. Last edited by schisist#5330 on Mar 4, 2013, 12:31:56 AM

It's funny that these fanboys don't realise that their senseless fanboyism only HURTS the game on the long run.The last game i played with fanboys defending ridicilous things didn't end well.Just saying.I don't want that to happen to this game.Because i love it.

i just have to say that you guys are pissing and moaning, some even nerdraging, an awfully lot over a game that is still in beta. and it is free. constructive criticism is one thing, but some of you just need to get a grip. if it really makes you that mad, do something else, play something else, whatever. if you aren't really mad and are just posturing like some big bad internet tough guy, well good for you, and i hope it makes you feel better about yourself. it's a freaking game, if it is not fun for you then stop. to those who just came to provide reasonable civilized constructive input, thank you
my perspective, being still new to this game but having played several online rpg type games, is that the end game is not supposed to be high drop rate steamroll run loot machines. that gets boring very quickly because you get the best of everything too quickly. that would make far more people get tired of playing this game than appeasing a small but disproportionately vocal group that always exists on the forums of games like these, who spend entirely too much time playing, so much so that they end up raging because they feel like they are entitled to something that has been eluding them, like the game owes them for playing it. you will have to forgive me if i lack compassion for someone who has not gotten everything they hoped and dreamed for out of this game before open beta was even over. i am certain that if there is indeed an issue that needs tweaking, the devs will do it, but i hope they also recognize that just because someone is upset and lashing out on the forums because they didn't get what they wanted, that does not necessarily mean there is something wrong with the game Last edited by Tombstoned#1173 on Mar 4, 2013, 1:02:03 AM

" I didn't read anywhere that these threads were reserved for one sided discussions. I may have a different opinion to you but the fact that in just over a month of OB we now have over 2000 characters at lvl80+, (in Default alone), says this game is much easier than the picture some people are trying to paint. Call it fanboy if you like but I'm only making comments based on my own personal experience in getting multiple solo characters to end game using original builds rather than cookie cutter shit. OB: BazzVone - 83 Dual Spork Totem Templar /w CI and minions
CB: BazzVfourteen - 80 Dual Spork Totem Templar /w CI CB: BazzVtwo - 73 Dual Spork Totem/LS Templar CB: BazzVseven - 76 Lightning Strike Mara CB: BazzVfive - 78 Lightning Strike Mara |
