No respec options? No thanks.
" Who cares if they do anything againt LoL. Either way they will be succesful (even though DotA 2 is "hardcore" as you would call it) and I'm sure LoL will still be succesful as well. They can both do well because they're different. Just like PoE can exist together with Diablo 3 as long as they stick to what makes the games different (respecs being one of those differences).

" Heh, sure you'll need to know at least a minimum if you want to play the game, it's something quite common with every game :) I don't know an easier fighting game than SF4. Some other fighting can look as easy, like Blazblue or KoF, but you can get your ass kicked far more quickly if you don't know what you're doing. In SF4, the noob effect still apply. As for PoE vs D3, I think we can completely forget that. You missed my point with the "popular" thing. So yeah, better listen to the fans here, no easy respec and PoE will be fine with people who want to play this game. PoE forums ignore list script:

" Yeah I don't think I got your point because I have no clue what you're trying to say here.
Valve is a popular game company and is doing a popular sequel.
GGG is an unkown company who's doing a D2-clone when you look quickly at the screenshots. Maybe some people will be interested by the gritty design, the one that D3 won't have, or maybe they will just follow the hype train and buy D3, Torchlight 2 and Guild Wars 2. PoE will be F2P, it means the first contact is important. After "failing" their first character, they'll say "meh" and will move on to something else. "Failing" in quotes because maybe they will read on the forum AFTER playing the game that this keystone is useless, or this skill with this weapon is better, etc... Too many assumptions, too few facts. I always have to laugh at the attempts to manipulate the devs by speculating the downfall of this game without access to easy respecs. :p

" I think the point is that not every game aims to be a "mainstream success". If games are easy to learn that means that complexity is lost, and to many that is a bad thing. |

" You seem to forget that at release it will be a lot harder, if not impossible, to "fail" as long as you follow the instructions (tutorial, hints, etc. that GGG plans to implement). |

" There are many, many people who have said "I don't really want to play this game because of complexity of the skill tree combined with difficult respecs." The SAME PEOPLE, over and over again, are loudly saying that there shouldn't be easier respecs. That's not speculation, it's fact. Does it mean that's the way the general population will approach the game? Certainly not, but absent a deeper data set, it does seem at least LIKELY that those numbers will reflect what the wider population will think. " Yeah, I'm sure GGG would hate if this game was a "mainstream success". They're probably programming it as a charity... I think the people who say things like this really need to sit down and think about what a F2P game's business model is. |

" Tell that to the devs. |
