My question concerns "Damage Effectiveness".

I have seen it explained very simply but I wasn't sure if that was all there was to it.

From my current understanding, if a spell gem has "50% Damage Effectiveness", that means it will only gain 50% of a support gem if that gem increases damage.

So let's say we link a +10% damage gem to that other gem, it will only get +5% damage due to it's 50% Damage Effectiveness (I don't know support gems well yet so I don't know if a gem like that even exists, but it's just an example).

Am I understanding that right?

If that happens to be correct, what about other sources of +damage? Like passive nodes that increase spell damage by +8%. Would that original spell gem with 50% Damage Effectiveness only receive +4% damage from that passive skill node?

Damage effectiveness only directly affects flat damage increases on the skill. +10% add on spell with 50% effectiveness just adds percent to the base damage of the spell, which halved. So the add is +10% to the total damage but +5% on the base damage.

Bringing up base and total separately in your explanation is throwing me off.

Base damage i am thinking is the damage listed on skill gem before it takes 50% effectiveness into account. Total damage is what your skill actually does.

Im sorry i didnt read all the 50 pages and this might have already been asked, but what is the base knockback distance. Please add somethimg to compare, because 1,5 meters is not very useful without reference points. (so something like 1/20 screen as an answer would be great)

Oh, I see, you're talking about minion charges.

I thought you are talking about the number for player.
