Glacial Cascade - Calling the Hivemind to think-tank it's usage
" Testing done on zombies in the twilight strand merciless. Having 0 increased AoE. Glacial Cascade completely unlinked. Are you killing your test subjects? Might wanna avoid that. Would you like some vids? For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it

" " " ...so Glacial Cascade seems to hit 1-3 times with no AoE changes. I've yet to see it hit 4x but I'll test a bit more. The skill's starting to look a bit interesting. Last edited by KG31459#1353 on Apr 7, 2014, 3:01:29 PM

If you only get one hit it's probably because the enemy was on the edge of the AoE instead of closer to the middle.
Enemies that are close to the middle I find tend to take 2-3 hits, with AoE boosters decreasing the chance of a third hit and Concentrated Effect almost guaranteeing a third hit. I think this skill will ultimately shine as a linear AoE for clearing halls, scaling off of spell damage and crit. |

you can remove 'interacts good with mine/trap' from potential uses
it seems that it is very fun self-cast tho. used it on cold crit spec with 'inc crit', 'inc aoe', 'conc eff' and damage was way higher than i expected on a lvl 11 gem in catacombs or wherever it was i tested it really nice skill however used with CoCS it simply melts the gfx card |

I currently don't have a character to test with more aoe but here's what I was able to perceive visually:
The spell seems to release 7 pulses of aoe in a venn diagram pattern The radius of the explosions are most probably 7 (got 6.8 and 8,6 with +26% iaoe) The last explosion is released at 46.4 range from caster and with +26% iaoe at 55.5 range The first explosion is released at pretty much the same spot at 10 range from caster with and without iaoe Without iaoe small monsters were hit once or twice (small monkeys etc), bigger ones were pretty much always hit twice (golems). With +26% small ones were hit mostly twice but bigger ones were never hit thrice, Gneiss however was big enough to sometimes receive three hits. The monsters being out of the direct line of explosions has a big effect on practical testing like this. With conc effect -30% iaoe it started hitting small monsters twice or thrice and bigger ones thrice (due to the monster's hitboxes being rather big in comparison to the cascade) The pattern always seems to start at the same spot at 10 range but as the explosions range is increased so is the lenght of the pattern of them - at exactly the same rate even. The lenght scaling is further proven by the posted video with high iaoe where the spell reaches off-screen. But what this basically means is it's much harder to get multiple hits with overlapping explosions by increasing the radius. By these numbers it should be possible for three explosion radiuses to overlap even at +0% iaoe which seems impossible to reproduce in practice whichs leads me to believe the explosion range is smaller. So take them with a grain of salt. if you're blind, it's harder for you to hit yourself -Mark_GGG Last edited by kujalla#1027 on Apr 7, 2014, 5:25:03 PM

You guys think it'd be decent with Trap? Instead of Ice nova or cold snap?

" I'm a cold chaos trapper and I could give it a try. Just going to grab one and test it with simple robe. I am awoo.

another spell better not self-casted
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything: A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones. Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings. What am i? |

I'm thinking double/triple totem crit might be the way to go with this spell:
A passive tree along the lines of that, and a gem setup consisting of: Cascade Spell Totem Knockback Faster Casting Increased AOE Crits Meanwhile you generate charges yourself. Last edited by lucksickle#6250 on Apr 7, 2014, 6:28:38 PM
