I would support this suggestion - coupled with a reminder per e-mail two weeks or so before the name gets 'set free' that would be fair: if someone wants to hold on to a name, they can do so, and 'uncared for' names would be made available.

Yeah, besides the cute lil' Kiwi, names are a big incentive for paying into early access. I didn't get any of my choices but that's okay. I would feel worse if i did get my desired names only to have them snatched when open beta comes in a few hours.

well it sucks for you to be sure, you would have thought that you would have been in beta by now seeing as you signed up to the site in 2011 but the you only have a total of 5 posts so your not really really interested.

But a name wipe wont happen, it was one of the selling points to the supporter packs and a bonus for those that got in and helped test the game.

No problems here creating names I liked. Sure, I didn't get the first few names I tried, but no worries. With a small amount of time, effort, and creativity I was able to come up with some good 'in character' names I'm happy with - and I don't mean l33t names (those are a dime-a-dozen).

There are still great names available!

Not wiping names is a disgrace in this day and age. Should just wipe them and have anyone at a certain support level get to reserve their name.

I've been in beta A long time and still did not get my name because someone who maybe doesn't even play the game anymore snagged it. That is not okey and the big reason for me not to throw in any support cash

I think some people just need to learn some creativity:

"Oh Noes, I didn't get GhostKiller or Gh0stKiller or Gh0stKilla or XxGhostKillerxX.... why are all the good names taken?"

I bought into closed beta maybe 3-4 months ago, created a Duelist named "Slighted", and moved on.

If you can't come up with a creative name in this day and age, something's wrong with you.

I made a female Panda Monk in WoW named "Nanichuan" (Ranma 1/2 Anime reference) - got it first try.

Some creativity isn't that hard folks. As for those people who want a name wipe... tell you what - you build a game from scratch, raise the 2m+ they did in funding, and you can set whatever rules you want. I'm sure your as-to-be-determined playerbase will thank you immensely.
