{3.2.0} Spectral Gods: [Life Based Spectre/Golem Hybrid Summoner | Clear Speed | End Game Bossing]
I feel like after 3.0.2 patch 80% of the summoners problems will blow away. You just keep a very few T16 with Lunaris mod on stash, summon the Frost Sents and unless they die (spoiler alert: they won't) they'll e with you forever. Same with the Goatmen and any other hard-to-find spectre bases.

" Me either, thanks. One divine :) e: Lesson learned, don't try to kill abaxoth with this build. Sucks trying to find the spectres again, especially when the maps only spawn Rime :( Last edited by vegeto079#3851 on Oct 10, 2017, 1:00:19 AM

" Oh damn. Your right, instead of Hypothermia Pierce or Slower Proj. Freezing is useless vs guardians and shaper you want that massive more mult from ele focus. " Abaxoth should of been blown away. What level spectre did you raise. Necronomicon: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1617098

" You could just swap in Controlled Destruction instead of Ele Focus. Keep the status effects, and Hypothermia would still work. Only lose out on 5% more mult between CD and Ele Focus. Edit: Chilling is also useless vs Guardians/Shaper. So Hypothermia is junk there. I think the most balanced 6L for Frost Sentinels is BBBBGG with Raise Spectre, Minion Damage, Spell Echo, Controlled Destruction, GMP (swap to LMP for big bosses), Faster Proj (swap to Slower Proj for big bosses). With that, you get a ton of more multiplier for big bosses, aren't reliant on chill/freeze (although you can still get them vs non-immunes), and have easy swaps that allow for both clear speed and bossing with no recolors. For pure bossing, you could argue BBBBBG (Slower Proj becomes Ele Focus) and for pure mapping, you could argue BBBGGG (CD becomes Pierce or Hypothermia), but BBBBGG with the above setup seems to cover everything quite well, without losing much utility and while retaining big more multipliers when necessary. Edit 2: For Solar Guards, I think BBBBBG is likely way in the lead for a balanced setup. Just swap GMP for LMP on big bosses. Reason being: their beam isn't a projectile, so the extra green link doesn't do as much for them. They also don't care about status effects, so the downside of Ele Focus is irrelevant to them. There is no chill immunity. Any cold damage will chill Guardians and Shaper, even if it is only 1-2 cold dmg. Only difference to normal mobs is that the slow effect is pretty much non-existent because of their huge life pool.
But I agree, Hypothermia has to go in single target. Ele. Focus is just too good. And of course you NEVER use LMP or GMP against Guardians/Shaper, what huge waste of damage :D Best single target setup for Frost Sentinels: BBBBBG RS + Elemental Focus + Spell Echo + Minion Damage + Slower Proj. + Controlled Destruction For clearing my ideal setup would be: RS + Spell Echo + Minion Damage + Faster Proj + GMP + Pierce (if the damage is not enough to clear fast enough, Hypothermia instead of Faster Proj.) BBBGGG So imho the best compromise would be BBBBGG and use Cold Pen. instead of Controlled Destruction vs bosses and use Controlled Destruction instead of Faster Proj. for clearing. All this is only important if GGG uses a half-assed version of what I hope they will do. Which is, use the same system that Animate Guardian has: Store the minions in the skill gem. So we will not lose our Frost Sentinels when we unequip the skill gem to recolor the 6link. And if we have that, why even run Guardians/Shaper with Frost Sentinel? Just throw in your gem that has 4 T16 Fire Eaters stored inside :D Last edited by Mecielle#3021 on Oct 10, 2017, 1:32:31 PM

Oh, I see chill immunity got removed. He used to be immune.
First, I think that the spectres are literally going to stay with you. Implementing an AG-style storage system would not be the best; some builds use different spectre types. Plus, the ability to simply re-summon a dead spectre would probably be too much. Of course, I could be wrong. We don't know. If I am, virtually all of my discussion below is moot. This leads us to the coloring discussion, and removes the "just use spectres that are better for the job" concept. We can all agree that RS-MD-SE are staying in all builds. This leaves 3 slots, for which options include: Controlled Destruction: Second best (to Ele Focus) for more multiplier. Negligible drawback. Ele Focus: Best more multiplier. Drawback is awful for clearing. Bossing too if using hypothermia. Great for bossing without Hypothermia. Faster Proj: Great for clearing Slower Proj: Weakish, but still there, more multiplier with negligible drawback for bossing. Not for clearing. Hypothermia: Solid more multiplier. Increased freezes, better chills. No drawback, but does not work with Ele Focus. GMP: Essential for clearing. Also gives better room coverage, which helps against fast bosses or bosses with adds. Reduces damage. LMP: See GMP, but less coverage, better damage. Pierce: Amazing for clearing, but negated almost entirely by Projectile Weakness. Out of the above, I think CD is a go-to in all situations. There's virtually no reason not to use it. Now we're at BBBB. Of the remaining, at least one slot needs to be green for GMP for clearing. We're at BBBBG. (GMP for clear, ____ for boss) This leaves one slot, which should not be blue, because the only blue gem left is Ele Focus, which sucks for clearing (where freezes can really help out). So it's green. (Note: for solar guards, Ele Focus has no drawback and should be used). For clearing, faster proj just gives far and away the best coverage. We don't need more damage vs white mobs. BBBBGG (GMP, Faster Proj for clear). (Note: for solar guards, this is Ele Focus). On to the bossing gems. Vs a stationary boss with no adds whatsoever, our minions could use single projectiles. There are approximately zero of these. LMP stays. GMP->LMP. We're at BBBBGG (GMP/FP for clear, LMP/___ for boss). Last green gem for bossing: the choice is slower proj vs hypothermia. Hypothermia gives a bigger more multiplier and better chills. Plus it helps to freeze the adds. Plus it doesn't have the drawback of, you know, being slower. Final setup: BBB (RS/SE/MD) B (CD) G (GMP/LMP) G (FP/Hypothermia). (Note: for solar guards, the last spot is taken up by Ele Focus). Final note: Pierce was not discussed. That's because there's no need for it. Proj Weakness gives 100% pierce, and with CoH/Ball Lightning, we're applying it to most mobs. |

" Mhh good points. Agreed with one disagreement. While clearing, even in T15/16 maps, we will not apply Proj. Weakness. To any mobs, at all. It isnt possible, they are dead before our Baal Lightning could reach them. Also we clear so fast that shield charge is what we should be doing, not standing and casting Ball Lightning on all the white packs. I am 100% sure that running with your first 5 links + Pierce will be much faster than with Faster Projectiles. The projectiles will travel far enough even without Faster Projectiles, but will stop at the first mob in a pack without pierce. Ideally we would use both and drop Controlled Destruction, but as discussed, only happening if they use the store in gem solution. I guess we will have to test it and decide for ourselves what we like better, but I'm putting my money on Pierce being faster. Or I will do it like I am doing now, just use the build for farming for a few days and then use it for bossing for a day. That is enough of a timeframe to just re-color the chest and get new spectres. This has the added bonus of having actually insane single target damage for Guardians/Shaper instead of the much worse single target of Frost Sentinels. Fair point. Pierce could do better than FP for clearing, given how slow ball lightning travels. Although I disagree about never using it; it's good to direct your spectres to attack packs that aren't on your path (so you don't want to charge there and back).
As for recoloring/new spectres for bosses... I dunno. Even Frost Sentinels do enough damage to easily take down T16 and Shaper. Other do higher, sure, but is it really worth the recoloring and going back to pick up new Frost Sentinels? |
|
As I said, I do a few days of clearing and then if I want a day or two of bossing. So the investment of a handful of chromatics and a little time to get Frost Sentinels again is worth it. I mean, a Fire-Eater Shaper run is more than double as fast. So overall much time saved :D
If the difference in single target damage wasnt as high as it is or I would actually only do like 10 Shaper runs, sure, just do it with Frost Sentinels. Last edited by Mecielle#3021 on Oct 10, 2017, 4:24:07 PM

Makes sense. I'm getting the idea that you might play substantially more than I am able to. :P "Only 10" Shaper runs sounds like a high number to me.
