Legacy of Phrecia Endgame Specialisation System
The ascendancies are a cool hook for coming back, but the main reason to do so is that the end game is miles ahead of others in this genre, including PoE2. And now we're scraping that for an RNG or trade system.
Not really a fan. We've had craftable watchstones in the past and it wasn't great. We've had leaguestones that were unmodifiable and those were awful. I wouldn't want them combined. I'll still play it, but I really wish that this was in addition to instead of replacing the existing end game. You would still be able to test whatever you want to test because they would still have value. All of this stuff is going to a void league anyhow. |

This might shape up as an even bigger cluster-f than 3.15 or Kalandra, they certainly are trying to shove the VISION down our throats again (and I actually don't mind testing some stuff for poe2, but this is just mule-level stubborness on the GGG side)

Yes, the children of the mines are crying out for more rng things to pick up and compare! If this is the mechanic they're planning on implementing with POE2, I personally don't want it. And I hope to god GGG doesn't think about replacing the tree long term in POE1. I just want to spec into the content I enjoy running without having to make sure my idols are efficient. The atlas completions also gave you a sense of progression and something to work towards. This change makes it more bland and uninteresting (imo).

Please make this system optional, like you replace an atlas page with this instead or something. This system is very interesting when you have multiple idols that work specifically for the league mechanic you want to play, but before you have those idols it will be an incredibly painful system that will fill your maps with un-synergistic and frankly annoying junk.
Players typically farm very specific things at the start of a league to get the various completions, even without the atlas passives, players will still want to get a variety of maps for the layouts, ranks and pantheon bonuses. Also, systems like rog crafting will be more valuable when you're wearing campaign drip. Without the atlas passives to guarantee increased chance for map drops and kirac missions, this system will likely feel incredibly bad at first. Also, "Given that players afterwards will likely want to experiment with the Ascendancy Classes or the alternate Endgame mechanic individually, we will be adding both of these as Private League options some time after the event." Why do you insist on ending this league before 3.26? Seems like it would only serve to piss off players that want to keep playing. I know players will say its because you want them to play poe2, but that doesn't ring true with me. Just seems like you're making people uncertain about investing time and effort into this league, thinking that their grind will be voided after a month, for no good reason. This might be good for some reward type mechanics like Essences, Exiles etc.
But losing 93% of increased effect of explicit map modifiers from Atlas tree alone will make maps' density x2 lower. I never liked that GGG went from "kill a monster (even white ones), get loot" to "focus on killing map's native monsters (not extra mobs from 95% of scarabs) and monsters with reward tiles to get better loot". |

Gating player agency in what type of content they can engage in by removing deterministic options and putting them behind rng drops is probably one of the worst thing you can do as a game dev.
As a guy who enjoys playing both POE1 and POE2, this is a worrying trend GGG. |

You have ruined a good thing to beta test an idea for poe2, while poe2 is still in early access and you could beta test it over there.
