Legacy of Phrecia Endgame Specialisation System

The relic system should have been more juice on top of the normal atlas passive tree since this event is just a month and just for fun. That wouldve made sense since players want to test several of the new warped ascendencies.

Like the relics in sanctum just to speed up the league to fit in a month before voiding it. Some ramping loot explosions and just having fun, especially for you SSF-players.

Now Im considering not even playing this because this new system will just feel like tiring work and an awful amount of time just price-checking idols. Or for you poor SSF-players, just desperately looking for you idols to fit your desired endgame.
Terrible. More poe2/10 testing…

I hope Jonathan will go for another holiday but like 6 months or a year holiday and stay away from PoE1.

I miss Chris…

bro this is trade game nobody is gonna play ssf
Idols are interesting, but GGG needs to be aware of these potential issues:
- Unmodifiable, tradeable Idols are essentially the same as the passive tree system, but with more friction, an aquisition cost and more power behind them
- Powerful Idol modifiers cannot be made too strong and too rare at the same time, otherwise the disparity between the top 1% players and everyone else will heavily impact player economy. Top players will farm most efficiently > generate the most drops > reducing the value of drops due to overabundancy > everyone else farming similar drops is left in the dust if they can't afford to play with the same mods
- If Idols drop too frequently and need to be identified, they will be nothing but a massive pain to deal with (similar to Necropolis Coffins and Allflames or Metamorph Items in the past, where there is too much to pick up, identify, store and evaluate). So too many Idol drops is bad, but too few drops and rare modifiers being too impactful/enabling could be a huge issue as well

An example of Idol balance being potentially problematic:
- An Idol chase mod for essence farming is far too rare AND feels mandatory for any essence strategy to become significantly (50%+ or whatever) more efficient
- Farming Essences will not be worth it unless you have that exact chase mod, because players will farm exclusively that content if they do have that chase mod, and others will skip it because it's not profitable enough anymore
- This example could apply to many farming strategies, or just a few outliers

Personally I think it would be better to have the atlas tree enabled, with Idols being locked to unmodifiable magic rarity and far fewer Idol slots available (similar to PoE 2 Trial of the Sekhema slot numbers). But I don't mind this event being experimental. It's just that the atlas passive tree is so beloved that rather than replacing it, I would like Idols to work alongside it to enhance certain farming strategies further in unique ways.

In the end, this is an event, and GGG should just go crazy with their ideas. Better overshoot a little than have it be a worse experience compared to the regular endgame system!
Taking away a core gameplay system and replacing with some junk for poe2... Put it in poe2 and let people that play poe2 test it for you.

"One of the major changes is that it turns specializing into different leagues to be less deterministic because it relies on you finding items. On the other hand it adds a layer of excitement"

Specializing is like 99% why atlas is so great, no one is forced to play stuff they don't want. Took 10 years to arrive at a conclusion that players being able to choose to run content they want is great (it was actually touted in reveal as a super awesome thing and it is) and now we are are stepping back 10 years... geeez, you people...

I not understanding why people blame about relics, it's kind of return of old times without atlas passive tree. As a season/league it will be fun to play

The people that are moaning are the ones who dont want to beta test POE 2/10. Its in EA, let the new Diablo players beta test their game.
Seem cool, love changes, rather than just never trying anything new. Guess I am in the minority.

Reminds me of Chris saying "if we drop nothing, you are angry we dropped nothing, if we dropped something, you are angry we dropped something"

I look forward to the event.
Weeeeeelp you tripped and fell hard early on in the race ggg, yikes.

Correction : PoE 2 is a trade game. PoE 1 is an amazing SSF game. Trade for both game in essence is broken, but not all players like playing in broken environments.
But for a one month event there will probably be less SSF players, yes.
