" Won't bother with the rest of the topic, but I feel like expanding on that as it can be seen quite a lot, with a deep misunderstanding of what that "speed" means. He's talking about upgrade path. When you're at a point where you one tap mobs, upgrading your damage won't change your character feeling. So naturally, the next upgrade path is to increase the speed, which is the next path to improving your character. It's not about speed itself, but rather having something to strive for, that gives a reason to keep grinding. What's the point in doubling your damage if you don't get a better feeling than yesterday. I understand that this is something that is a non issue for casuals, but it's doesn't invalidate it for more hardcore players. You need to have a scaling capability in the game, to catter to every type of player. And this concept has nothing to do with PoE1 or PoE2, or whatever other game really. If you can't give activity to the whole spectrum of your player base, your design is lacking. That's what the simple "improving speed" is about. |

Ben is not only a god gamer but a really smart dude. I agree with everything he said. I feel like PoE 2 is trying to re-invent the wheel just to be different from PoE 1, and it makes the endgame mapping system, crafting, items and more just a lot worse.

" everything you mentioned has way more potential in poe2 than in poe1. clearly its wip, but i'm happy to see innovation rather than more copy paste |

General reflection on Bens review and most other streamers recently - Path of Exile 1 created a massive expectation for this audience, and it simply did not surpass it, and honestly, there is no reality where Path of Exile 2 would have "beaten" Path of Exile 1, this is fantasy versus reality. Ben exaggerated most of his concerns and had a terrible first impression of the game because he started with Warrior as his first character.
IMO, Ruetoo's 'review' of the game has been the most rational(he did that on stream just after watching Bens video), he gave Path of Exile 2 a 7.5/10(for its current state), Path of Exile 1 a 9/10, D4 "at launch" a 4/10, and similarly D3 a "0/10". I assume it will be posted on his channel soon. DS Lilly also gave the current EA a 7/10, btw. Path of Exile 1 players are seething because they thought Path of Exile 1 will stay, many don't even care about Path of Exile 2 no matter how good it is, and that crowd has widened. Path of Exile 2 has the potential to be a 10/10 ARPG(maybe in this EA period itself), but as of now, it needs a lot of work in every area. And yes, fundamentally it's possible to get there. Ruetoo and 'most' streamers agree here. Last edited by Climet#7103 on Jan 29, 2025, 1:41:59 PM

" Nah dood, they prefer PoE1 with PoE2 skin, instead of something new from GGG. |

Imagine being some rando with such a hugely inflated ego that you think you can write a gigantic wall of text criticising the best PoE1 player to ever touch the game.
What a gigantic, worthless pile of slop. Ben was right in every single thing he said. I'm still playing PoE2 btw, and will continue to do so as long as I have company. But there's no denying it's a significantly inferior game to the original. Love the games. PoE1 way more so than PoE2, but still enjoying both.
Hate the company. The scummy, lying, fake and shitty facade, the excuses, the failures, and most of all, the "Vision". Keep both of those in mind when reading my posts. |
