Take on "Ben's" feedback
" While you speak reason, he said PoE2 is doomed and basically trash-talked every aspect of the game besides "Uncut Skill Gems" and some minor stuff. Like you've said, the game is currently the roughest and worst version. I would understand his take more if he were a new player with no clue about PoE and doesn't know how GGG works, but that's not the case. I mean, the end game isn't great atm? The thing that GGG is popular for? Y... bet they won't fix it... |

I literally agreed with everything Ben said. People are just huffing too much copium going "It is EA give it a break". There should be constant changes to right direction during EA and we aren't getting anything.

IDK, the guy plays video games like 16 hours a day. This type of unhinged raging is pretty typical for people like that. I wouldn't pay much attention to anything that those types have to say. 90% of the player base have jobs and have seen a boob in real life so they likely can't relate to people like this at all. Let him sperg out if he wants, it's not hurting anyone but himself.

" he said the current end game design is doomed and I don't disagree. at the moment it's stripped away a tremendous amount of player agency which some players obviously appreciate. I see it's problems too, but I don't necessarily think you can't solve them within this current 'framework'. actually I don't think I disagree with anything he said and it seems to me the real 'controversy' is really just a question of whether people think his concern is warranted or not. do GGG have a vision that backs up their expressed intentions? also to address the skill gem thing he was talking about I'd probably add a new currency item (which would function like a compass) to absorb and itemize the skill sockets, rather than having it be tied to the character. win-win solution. The point that towers and tablets are worse than even the original sextants used to be is right on the money.
Same goes for map layouts and a total lack of choice in regard to what tileset you want to run. It is obvious that both Jonathan and Mark see players spamming the same couple of maps per league ad infinitum as a problem. Removing any agency from players in that regard is an even bigger one and a giant step backwards. I'm not going to pretend like I have a solution to this, but if one can't come up with a good one, then giving players choice is _always_ better to land on. Crafting without omens is not crafting. They need to be way more common and that should've been fixed weeks ago. I understand the intention is to not make ground loot as pointless as it is in poe1, but in order to achieve that you need a way to modify half decent drops in at least a minimal way. Balance per se is obviously going to be broken for a long time, since they don't even have all the classes/ascendancies/gems in. That is not in contention here, rather the speed at which they're adjusting things. People are going to be salty when you nerf their copy pasted build no matter what you do, you need to have some integrity in that aspect and like Ben said just rip the band-aid off, instead of trying to conform to crybabies. All endgame map mechanics are lazy ports that have somehow managed to carry over every single negative point from their predecessors, even some that have already been fixed. Somehow I'm again expected to pick up Breach splinters in singles. For some inexplicable reason Delirium is still a visual cluesterfuck (now on steroids) and a major performance hit. Also mandatory to run, because fuck choice right? Expedition might as well be removed from the game in its current form, even d4 devs would've been ashamed of calling that an end game 'mechanic'. Ritual is a literal copy paste just with 1/4th of mob density and 99,9% of outcomes being trash, instead of just 99%. What are we even doing here? Have we learned nothing from ~5 years of endgame systems iteration? It is time someone at GGG realized that not everything that exists in poe1 is bad, okay? |

" Nope and thats one of the main worries i have, jonathan said he hasnt played poe1 in 7 years and it very much reflects in the game | |
" Many ppl consider him THE best PoE player because he won some races. |

" The best PoE player is Elon’s driver🙂 |

" yeah thats roughly my take too. i hard agree with about 25% of his thoughts hard disagree with another 25% the other 50% just seems like hes talking about place holder systems that were thrown together and stuffed in at the last minute to have a functioning game build they could release 3 weeks late and then completely redesign later. so what hes saying about them isnt totally irrelevant because they do need to properly design those systems and its important to triangulate what should be in that space, knowing what shouldnt be there is useful. but the way he talks about them as if theyre what the game actually is and then goes on to draw conclusions about the game, the devs, the direction etc based on that seems totally irrelevant. " " +1 to basically all of this. and look, ben can prefer poe1 and just play that. he says he cant understand why 2 exists, well it exists because of all the shit ur saying. you just want to fast grind 99% efficiency layouts and it feels good to blow up the entire screen and max ur speed? cool. thats why poe2 exists, so you can stay in poe1 where you belong. and i dont mean that as a diss, i get it, when i play poe1 thats how i feel too a lot of the time and i hope poe1 lives on and lets me go do that sometimes. but poe2 doesnt have to be that, thats why it exists, because actually theres a great game here where we stop giving a shit about a map layout being a bit inefficient. he can play which ever one he prefers or both, good for him hes perfectly entitled to enjoy what he enjoys so power to him, much love to ben. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
