Ben is not only a god gamer but a really smart dude. I agree with everything he said. I feel like PoE 2 is trying to re-invent the wheel just to be different from PoE 1, and it makes the endgame mapping system, crafting, items and more just a lot worse.

everything you mentioned has way more potential in poe2 than in poe1. clearly its wip, but i'm happy to see innovation rather than more copy paste

Nah dood, they prefer PoE1 with PoE2 skin, instead of something new from GGG.

It is POE1 beta with a POE2 skin. New doesn't mean good. Hence why some new leagues failed and their content never went core in POE.
Most PoE 1 players were expecting faster update cycles for PoE 2, which is where I think his perceived doomer attitude comes from. I don't think his attitude is as doomer as it is interpreted by OP and I think this thread is just clickbait slop by some attention starved rando.

Congrats, tho, you got him mentioning it on stream, job accomplished

Who cares if he has won races? PoE is a PvE game and the most difficult part is knowledge, not skill. Imagine glazing someone so hard that you agree with every single thing he says.

Your inferiority complex is screaming at me through my screen

No, no. It's ok. He is omnipotent and nobody can criticise him.

I also don't understand searching for the last rare. If you use the right strategy for each map (some are slightly different), you will explore it 100% on your first go. Skill issue.

I agree with him there should be more map bosses though.

About mana, sounds like he's just stuck in his ways of poe1 where mana = useless on 99% of builds. [Removed by Support]

If you think imma listen to a nobody over the BEST PLAYER IN POE, you're crazy. Ben is correct you are wrong. This rare hunting backtrack mess is the same thing we gave blizzard crap over with D4 and you are just giving GGG a free pass.

Opinion rejected, end of story.

Best player?

Won't bother with the rest of the topic, but I feel like expanding on that as it can be seen quite a lot, with a deep misunderstanding of what that "speed" means.

He's talking about upgrade path. When you're at a point where you one tap mobs, upgrading your damage won't change your character feeling. So naturally, the next upgrade path is to increase the speed, which is the next path to improving your character.

It's not about speed itself, but rather having something to strive for, that gives a reason to keep grinding. What's the point in doubling your damage if you don't get a better feeling than yesterday.

I understand that this is something that is a non issue for casuals, but it's doesn't invalidate it for more hardcore players. You need to have a scaling capability in the game, to catter to every type of player. And this concept has nothing to do with PoE1 or PoE2, or whatever other game really.

If you can't give activity to the whole spectrum of your player base, your design is lacking. That's what the simple "improving speed" is about.

i understand what hes saying, and i get he wants something to strive for. but at the same time he also wants speed because speed and is talking about it feeling good when you get fast, only running maps with fast efficient layouts and not having to loot items so he can just speed grind content on a loop.

its a degenerate mindset.

i understand, i have it too, ive played poe1 for 20k hours, ive blasted through 10 hours of mesas in a day and then done it again the next day. thats what poe1 has become and i enjoy, but its also made degenerate junkies out of us.

80% of the maps are unplayable? he literally said that right? actually unplayable because he just wants to autopilot down a straight line while everything instantly dies and he doesnt pick up any of the loot. poe1 has let us do this for too long and its rotted our brains, if you have to actually play it then its unplayable.

i get that he wants a vector to improve his character. this is why ggg want magic find in the game, to have another way of scaling your character.

but speed is a problem because with speed comes idiotic gameplay, a degenerate descent into xp/orbs per hour junkie behaviour that is not really gameplay, its like a fidget spinner cosplaying as a Diablo game.

we speed up then the mobs have to speed up, you have to balance around it and then entire build achitypes become completely invalid options because they are comparatively trash in the face of the zoomies.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

This. Probably all of us zoomed thousands of hours through PoE1, but if you put down the junkie glasses you can easily see - the game became a fancy cookie clicker on crack.

its because they have said so in the past in interviews "content at an accelerated pace" but then they decided against it for some reason and went with what we have now

most poe1 players were expecting poe 4.0 Expansion with better graphics and a lot of cool new stuff. was cancelled
then most poe1 players were expecting poe1 development not suffering from poe2 like they told us. was not true
then most poe1 players were expecting a new poe1 league at some point after 3.25 like they told us. was not true

so we got disappointed several times in several ways only to get this game thats lost all of poe1s freedom and sandbox character in order to please some new audience. besides visuals this game is worse in every aspect of the game compared to poe1, at least in my opinion. thats fine, maybe its just not for me. yes, i can stick to poe1, no problem for me. i want to do that but i cannot, because it seems like poe1 has been buried by ggg.

so no, im not expecting faster updates, im not expecting faster resets or faster balance changes. at this point im expecting nothing at all anymore, im just disappointed the first time in a decade of playing poe.
