Trial of sekhema is really bad
I hated Sanctum as well. I thought it was super boring and was trying to capitalize on the Steam Rogue-like games. It had it's place in history.
Ultimatum is another one that was very punishing. I liked it for the catalysts, but they were icing on a good piece of jewelry. In POE2, I feel both are unnecessary. There are a lot of decisions that are made in the design of the game which are terrible: Removing Scouring and Alteration orbs are 2 more. We'll just have to see where things go from here. |

Beating these "trials" was meant to be an endgame activity in PoE1 with its massive power creep, defense layers, and "Sharpers per second" levels of damage. Either tone the damage/effects down by 75% or just ditch them before 95% of the players leave.
Not killing Uber Elder is one thing. Not unlocking your character is something players won't accept. |

The most ridiculous thing is that they want you to complete the 3 trial tokens for the 5th and 6th points of the ascendancy :).
Absolutely idiotic, maybe ranged classes its possible but melee chars can forget their ascendancy points altogether hahah. |

This Trial is BS. I made to the end of the sanctum trial, killed the boss, got the congrats message, and then was kicked out of the trial before I could interact with the Ascendancy Alter.
This BS is just as bad as the original implementation of the Labyrinth where you kill Izaro but then get hit killed by a still active trap after the fact. Completely ridiculous. I won, but didn't and now have to do the whole damn thing over again. Stupid. |

I've been having some decent fun with the game although I think it has massive problems and the way you ascend is one of those gigantic issues for me.
Both the Sanctum mechanic and Ultimatum have way to many RNG downsides. Having to pick between a couple of terrible choices of downsides just doesn't feel fun, especially if you're unlucky. They also take way too long. 4 floors of Sanctum feels like a massive chore if you don't enjoy it. Same goes for 10 ultimatums. You cannot afford to make any mistakes either, because you're forced to slog through tedium all over again. These issues combined make it feel double as punishing, because if you're unlucky and get bad RNG, you are almost guaranteed to have to do it all over again, while some people win just because they got lucky. It's unfair. They need to keep these mechanics as optional challenges for people who enjoy torture and go back to the drawing board. |

I like Ultimatum but currently its so broken its impossible to do it with an average non screen wipe melee build. You either get swarmed at the door and die or get stuck on an elevator etc.
Trial of the Sekhema ... is even worse. I like the traps and the different rooms but the honor system is basically makes playing melee a into an insanely stressful sweatfest. Its not fun its rage inducing In trial of the Will so many mobs have fast and long IGNITE attacks if i get hit once i lose so much honor and i have to get close to them ... dont even talk about the rares witch hide behind traps because they are ranged and can just shoot at me offscreen but i loose hundred of honor when i try to get near them.... I propose to remove the honor system and buff the mobs damage and traps to make it "evenly hard". It would be a long but fair old Lab type of ascendancy. Cus if i die its on me not some random fire trap glzing my ankle as i roll... Or at the very least make it so you can retry floor bosses a few times without losing honor. |

I mean, I over levelled like hell, maxed out my resistances for fifth and sixth point and it was still not enough. I got to the last boss and I can't seem to do it. I did a lvl 67 challenge on 79 lvl character and I can't do it. I am playing a ranged character as well.
It probably doesn't help that my client stutters like crazy in these trials. I've given up on this until the performance issues are fixed. |

" not any better as range when you are 0,01 seconds in the gascloud and you loose 1600 honour.. tried to get my 5.6. point multiple times with my deadeye and its impossible for me even tho im running t10 maps without a sweat xD |

the third lab is competently overturned. some people go in 10 levels over and still get 1 shot by the boss

I just tried the lvl 60 trial with my level 62 warrior with capped res, block and armor above 75% dmg reduction. I'm using molten blast, so i am kinda range and can deal solid damage. Not to brag, but zero deaths so far, so I can dodge stuff and my own build turned out to be pretty solid.
I made it to mid floor 3 and barely lost any honour til floor 2 double bosses. The honour you lose compared to the actual damage you take is crazy overtuned. Dodging every attack on the dual bosses is hard enough already, but getting even grazed by one of their massive aoe hits subtracts like 500 honour from the 2,4k I had. The nail in the coffin was an hourglass trial on the third floor with a tiny room, but same amount of enemy spawns like a big room. It is literally impossible to dodge everything in there and even white trash mob hits take at least 150 honour, while they barely scratch my hp. The trials are supposed to test your skill and build, the current trials do nothing of the sort. It's just try over and over and over again and hope you dont get broken rooms or too much debuffs with bad rng. For the love of god change both of the trials, remove any rng based debuffs (especially in the fourth trial) from it and scale the honour loss down. Maybe dont force people to play one of the WORST season mechanics from POE1 in POE2. It also defeats the whole purpose of outleveling and outgearing a challenge you can't beat atm, because the honour loss doesnt care about character power. There is not one player that thinks, that this is a fun or fair way to test your build in any way or form. If you want these mechanics in the game, rework them or make them optional and give us viable trials for the ascendancy points! Last edited by ghettochef18#2682 on Dec 14, 2024, 5:47:46 PM
