[POE 2] Loot Disappears On Death
" Sry but how is this a solution to anything we are discussing? |
|
Exact same thing happened to me, tried for an hour to beat the Act 2 boss. Finally got it done, then I got surrounded by the mobs that spawn immediately after he goes down, I die and all the boss loot that was dropped is gone into the ether.
Absolutely gut wrenching and I echo the sentiment of others it made me want to log off and not play. |

" Not a solution, but the way around it. Make a new instance of the map, boss shows up again, it's there for you to slain. You can even farm like that, If you want, but some OG POE1 player told me that farming campagin bosses is pathatic XD. Loot is completely randomized, so don't stick your mind to it. It's trash mostly of the time and game lean more into crafting direction with all of this Orbs. Almost everybody point out a loot being trash. |

" But i get that...and thats totally fine! I think what most of us are frustrated with is the fact, that you see loot drop... then you HAVE to pick it up straight away to avoid losing it due to a death. - So basically you have to ninja-loot yourself... I mean wtf! - this takes away focus from gameplay, immersion and focus on combat. - It makes NO SENSE what so ever to have a loot system like this. GGG wants us to care more about combat and not dying...this does the excact opposite. No wwe have to care TOO much about potential loot. |

All enemies respawn when you die except for bosses.
Because of this GGG clears the loot in the area if you died in the zone. From what I can tell enemy packs on respawn are similar to what they were before, elites and rare enemies still spawn at the same place they were before, but now with new affixes and different loot drops. I think a meaningful way of keeping things as is, while not completely reworking the player experience would be doing something like this Boss item drops are given a property that make them stay in the instance on death and respawn. Other drops in the zone should still be cleared. Reasoning being that bosses are the only enemies that don't respawn on death alongside you, while other enemies in the zone can be rekilled and have them drop something again. Bosses not keeping their loot after you die feels like an oversight. Everything else being cleared is logical. It also does feel like there is clear design intent in trying to kill the player after some boss fights. There are fights that will end with the death of the boss, but the introduction of a swarm of normal enemies closing in on you, potentially blocking you off and killing you. I don't mind that being there, I think it's neat. But the consequence being that you win a fight, and then die to an aftermath depriving you of a good drop you saw is a bit hurtful. Alternative solution is if you didn't manage to snag the loot and died before you were able to collect, it should maybe respawn the boss. But I see this potentially being exploited to get better drops and being a pain to track programatically Last edited by SethRah#3657 on Dec 13, 2024, 8:42:46 AM

BTW
Does anyone know how this loot "system" works in maps/endgame...what happens to the map/instance when/if you die? Last edited by Fathervic#3656 on Dec 13, 2024, 8:51:07 AM

" dying in a map on solo will destroy the session, requiring you to use a new waypoint. |

" Omg... yeah I am back to poe 1... I can't play a game like that! Thanks for the reply! |

seeing loot dropping and than dying before you can pick it up feels bad. in poe1 heist its ok, because it is a special mode, but for common leveling it feels really bad...
