POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Just another quick confirmation that PoEUncrasher (https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher) is indeed able to prevent the freezes caused by the Windows 24H2 update.

This worked for me!
Run the program as admin be4 you start POE2 and so far 0 crashes!

hope this helps you guys!

A fix for those experiencing complete PC freezes on loading screens

Just disable multithreading before you engage with loading screens, has been working for me like a dream.
Recently started a merc Witchhunter and i've got 27 hours on it, not 1 complete PC freeze ever since i began disabling multithreading before engaging with loading screens.

Imagine calling it a fix that you need to disable multitreading every time before loading.

The fix is to rollback to Windows 23H2. I don't understand why people are not doing this and instead spending so much time on the forum and trying out some obscure Github scripts. Just rollback and it will fix the issue for 99.99999% of people.

This thread is way longer than it should be.
Here is what i tried:

- Turn off Nvidia Overlay,
- Turn off Nvidia Reflex,
- Lighting: shadows only.
- Add poe2 Roam folder as some post suggest.

Never had a crash since.

2 days ago, I tried turn Nvidia Reflex back on, and Lighting with Shadows and Global Illumination, the crash comeback the first loading screen.
Turn off again, and the crash gone, even when i abuse the loading screen, never crash once.
I was very pessimistic that some configuration changes could fix temporary the issue until GGG team address it, but it seems that changing one option actually worked out and I didn't have single crash since then.

I changed in the game option to not use DirectX12, but Vulkan instead and then my PC stopped shutdown itself every 1–2 maps. I don't have freezes or any client crashes as well. Hope this can work out for some of you until patch is released.

It's a long thread because there's people here on Linux (last one, Nobara distro), or people like me that first rolled back, didn't fix it and then did a clean install of 23h2 and still didn't fix it.

It's an issue important and widespread enough to warrant this thread. Unless you're going to read the whole thing, don't come here spewing bullshit, go play the game if it's working for you and leave us alone.
same issue

9600x
4070 ti super

resolved by restricting 10% using BES and disabling core 0 and 1.

hope for a fix soon from GGG
Hardcore only, cause yolo :)

Guys, I did a fresh clean install of windows 11 23h2 and it still crashed as soon as I open POE2… something is weird.

I did another DDU and installed latest nvidia drivers - did a memory test with windows (thanks god no errors)

I’m just afraid to try to launch the game again honestly… my temps are okay - CPU and GPU max at 60 65 while gaming.

Well let's work on narrowing it down to which is the culprit.

I haven't tried nvidia overlay off but it works for you off (but a lot of AMD users have the crashes too) so it likely isn't that.

I have had reflex off for 2 weeks so that isn't the problem.

I did have lighting set to shadows w/GI like you so I will try disabling that

Haven't heard about the roam folder but that seems unlikely, but we'll see
Someone posted here or in other topic to disable gpu hardware scheduling.

I did it yesterday and had 6 hours without crashes, I will continue testing today. Win 11 24H2, 7800X3D, 4700Ti

If you want to test this:
Settings -> Display -> Graphics -> Advanced graphics settings
Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling to OFF
Variable refresh rate to OFF (not really related but GSYNC work w/o this anyway)

Important! RESTART PC after

EDIT: While yesterday was flawless today first run and crash :) Will try reinstalling 23H2.
