POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
"Stop talking about things you don't understand. Spreading misinformation doesn't help anyone. Thanks. |

" Just coming back to give props to the dev. This thing works like a charm. |

" I've also crashed a few times with it as well. The crashes generally only occur when I try to load my character from the login screen. |

Maybe it only works with amd cpu?

I have a 9800X3D. There are other things in this thread I'll try and a lot of people really like and vouch for the tool but I'm just reporting my own experience with it.
This issue should be a main priority over everything else at GGG right now. |

" Are they hard crashes that require a restart or just a crash to desktop? |

Same, I had to format my Windows after the game bricked my PC! Seriously, GGG, I spent €60 only to get so many problems in return. I’m extremely disappointed. I didn’t even reinstall the game because it left me so disgusted—too bad for me. It was the only Christmas gift I got myself this year. :(

i have been having the same PC-wide crashes as everyone during loading screens. For the last few days, I have been playing successfully by disabling engine MT before traveling and reenabling once done. Not a single crash (of this type) so far doing that. So for me, the issue seems clearly related to the game attempting to use multiple threads during loading screens.
However a strange thing happened the other day. At one point, I forgot to turn off MT before clicking my portal. When I got into the loading screen, the gears froze, the sound started repeating the same half second period over and over, I couldn’t move the mouse, all the signs that a hard lockup was about to happen. But then, it recovered and I loaded into the zone normally. That has never happened before. I was not willing to risk another hard reset by testing it again, but has anyone else had that happen? 9800x3d 4090 24H2 |

I just built this PC a week ago and was worrying that it was something on my end. The CPU and GPU are Ryzen 7 9800x3d and RTX 4080. When loading into the main menu or mostly into new maps, the CPU ramps up along with the temperature. At times, it will freeze my entire PC and require me to hold down the power button to shut it down. I play Sea of Thieves at around 200 fps on ultra setting, but PoE 2 will only push around 70-80 fps unless I run it at max performance (which then runs at 160 fps).
To circumvent the freezing, I have to alt-tab immediately after clicking to zone into a new zone. This is with the fps capped at 90 in the foreground and 15 in the background. I haven’t frozen once by doing this, but it requires me to remember to alt+tab and play on a much lower graphic setting. Edit: I’m considering applying a negative offset in the curve optimizer for the CPU. Last edited by richyp_2004#5799 on Dec 23, 2024, 9:52:57 AM
