POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

"
POSSIBLE FIX

So I found this idea online somewhere and so far it has been working great. Navigate to the Steam folder where POE2 is installed. Should look like:

Drive Letter\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2

Find the PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe file and right click. Go to Properties. Go to Compatability tab. Check box run as Admin and Check box run in compatability mode for Windows 8. Hit Apply and OK.

Haven't had one crash yet since this change. Hopefully it works for you all. Best of luck!

GPU: RTX 4090
RAM: 32.0 GB
NV.2: Samsung 990 PRO 4TB
OS: Windows 11 Pro
OS VERSION: 24H2

This has worked for a while, but alas, just hardlocked. Oddly, everything didn't slow down, like usual, just locked while loading a map.

That Program helped me. Could play normally after days of crashing

https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/releases/tag/v1.2.0

same problem sadly
Shame is still not fixed :(
Every day I read the last few pages of the crash threads hoping to see a stealth patch went live and the issue is fixed. I see there is nothing, but still scroll to cope cause all of my friends can play the game safely, but I can't.

Everyday I'm bombarded with a fix that works for some one and consider giving it a go, but never do. I think to myself, "This worked for that guy, maybe I should try. That doesn't seem too bad." But then the voice in my head reminds me how absurd of an issue this situation is. And how the last crash I experienced left me with no video output on the reboot. And how some one else in the thread is sending their PC in for repair cause of these crashes. And I just make my daily forum post, and leave. I built my PC last month with a 9800X3D and a 4080SUPER to be future proof and last me years... and I simply can't even play this game for fear of damaging my parts.

I'm done downloading third party software, limiting my CPU utilization %, disabling cores... Searching for 23H2 iso cause I have no roll back option just to crash again. Nothing works and its a POE issue cause no other game I have ever played in 10+ years of PC gaming has ever behaved like this.

I mean the whole thing is just ridiculous and it's a true shame it's not fixed. And what's even worse, is that this made it through all the testing and never was identified? I mean how does an issue this dramatic go unnoticed in their offices? Damn. Ultimate shame.

I was under the impression coming from Diablo 4 and Last Epoch, kinda new to the ARPG scene... that GGG was going to join the ranks of the Larian Studios and From Softwares of game development cause they are a wonderful studio with creativity, passion and innovation. While that may be true on the surface, if you dig deep you will find that they are no better than the Bungies, Activisions, and Blizzards of the world.

At the bare minimum, we should have a pinned message at the top of the bug page here that says something like "We are aware of crashing issues and are targeting a fix for...." They pride themselves on transparency with the community but care more about their image and good will so they ignore the portion of the community that is impacted by this issue, including some very well known streamers. Makes me feel like they are controlling the narrative as to not impact sales during the holiday. In fact, that's exactly what this is - optics. One tweet or forum post detailing the issue and you are off putting potential buyers. No better than Ubisoft, Activision, etc...

Despite this mishandling and incompetence, I'll still sink dozens of hours into the game because it is very well designed. I have 19 hours played so far with 15-20 crashes. Haven't played in more than a week. And wont be until this is fixed.

Fixed three of the GAZILION of crashes:

One of the lucky ones getting the PC frozen on every login screen + infinite amounts of D3D12 crashes

YES. GGG gotta fix their shit but in the mean time. Can confirm the following as many people here addressed.

Freeze- it really has something to do with Windows most recent update (it might happen on other versions if whatever is causing it was also bad built like the recent one)

I had the rollback option - It's annoying having most of your PC and Software configs reset but it WORKS, ROLL that shit back if you can

D3D12- kinda obvious but just get the fuck out of DirectX 12. Vulkan sucks but its stable

Bonus- I had many crashes like the D3D12 without the error. these one were usually on busy screen animations like starting a boss fight or engaging a huge pack

Can confirm NVIDIA Reflex OFF got rid of them

Taking suggestions on the the one which makes you still be able the hear in game sounds and press your buttons but the screen freezes right before closing it if you keep spamming skills/trying to move. It seems to be the one MFer remaining with these changes.

This worked for me. Got into one of the freeze events and it recovered!! Whoever developed this is the MVP.

Dude, that's how my old pc started to die. It'd crash and have no video output on reboot. You might want to avoid freezes poe is causing...

Omg this worked... I used to disable core 0+1 every time I open the game and disable multi threading on every loading screen. Considerably dropped cpu temp as well. Thank you so much!!
