POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
" Mistakes happen, but this radio silence from GGG isa driving me crazy. |

" I don't care if they cannot fix the issue in time. The problem is complete silence and lack of warnings. All they had to do is to acknowledge the issue, warn people about not trying to play the game if they are crashing, give an estimated time of fix, apologize. That's it. This extremely simple thing has not been done by GGG. The game is a bug filled mess that shouldn't have been released this early (maybe in 6 months time) but that's another issue. I get that they wanted this prime time release. Probably Tencent pushed them for it. Furthermore, I ask anyone who sees this message to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. |

yeah considering it's early access and all that, issues like this aren't too surprising. but i agree the silence regarding it is honestly disappointing

" Path of Exile 1 team had previously learned the lesson to not release leagues right before holidays. Guess we'll have to wait until after holidays for the game to be fixed into a somewhat stable state. |

been using PL to play for about a week now. had a hard freeze while loading early this morning. and had a "half freeze" that WAS recoverable, but had to manually close the game in the task manager.
what I'm VERY curious about is...have any streamers at all mentioned this? if they haven't, i feel GGG told them beforehand and how to avert this issue. but us peasant folk that don't grovel at their feet get radio silence about it. just a feeling. |

" The problem where the CPU gets locked up during the loading screen is 100% related to Windows 24H2 and the solution is simple, just roll back with a clean install. It's possible that it also happens in some Linux distro I don't know that much. Or maybe that guy is talking about a different type of freeze. But to me the solution is clear, just fucking roll back if you're on 24H2, simple. |

Hi,
So just started the PC. And 2 mins after I went in game, I got the "full CPU freeze with mouse moving" while clicking a portal. For the moment, I have tried to set Affinity with CPU 0 unchecked in Task Manager. After that, PoE2 stopped using CPU0. Lets see how it goes. Anyone else tried this, so we don't switch off multithreading from the game ? AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D FPS seem still good. Thank you. Br, Cristi |

" if it was that simple, this post wouldn't have 256 pages and counting. |

Devs, maybe it will help to fix.
I have recorded which events were the last in the Event Log before the freeze. The system measured the delay of synchronous I/O reading and it was equal to 140 ms (with a norm of 10 ms, which indicates a significant delay in the disk subsystem. Given that the freeze usually occurs when loading a location, it is possible that there are too many disk accesses at the same time and it is worthwhile to somehow limit the number of one-time disk accesses. |

Just another quick confirmation that PoEUncrasher (https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher) is indeed able to prevent the freezes caused by the Windows 24H2 update.
Huge kudos for the author! |
