The promise of a shared endgame fooled collectors and standard players

Honestly... WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT? PoE is a game, which provided you with content almost every 3 months. And almost each time it was a freaking good experience. In a f2p game. With no lies, excuses, never did they disrespect their players, and never did they try to squeeze money from them. From us. So every time I started to play new league, I bought a support pack. As a 'thank you' to GGG's dev team, because I could enjoy new builds, new skills, new mechanics, etc.

P.S. all the MTX will be transfered to PoE2. So you, guys, loose nothing.

With no lies -> wrong
excuses -> wrong
never did they disrespect their players -> arguably wrong
never did they try to squeeze money from them -> very wrong

I don't think its worth to have a conversation with you. Just wanted to state you should check your facts (they aren't facts).

What did they lie to you about? What excuses did they make to fail your expectations? How did they disrespect their playerbase? And how tge fk did they squeeze money from anybody? You just say I am wrong, while not telling me why. Do you have actual facts, or that's just how you feel? Two different things.

To flip the coin here, Can you disprove anything they said?

If you can disprove either of the other two ill be shocked, I've been here for just about everything except BETA, I can back the OP's statements up with a lot of confidence where that information is coming from.

At Exilecon 2019 Chris said PoE 2 will have a shared endgame with PoE 1 - it won't. (Clips are linked in this thread)

They continued nerfing PoE 1 even though they knew already that PoE 2 and PoE 1 will be separate games. They used a false pretense. (Clips are linked in my opening post)

Asking for us to buy supporter packs to support the development of PoE 2, which again everyone believed was a big patch to PoE 1 not a new game. (Clips are linked in this thread)

Yeah, false pretense for nerfing poe1 is strong topic which didn't get many attention here, however if they want to nerf, they can just do so in stealth, without any pretense. Since a while ago, I cannot farm a single Craicic Chimeral in standard, while it was fine before (rare to be sure, but possible). Running fully specced bestiary and get nothing despite some maps having 30+ beasts.
No developer ever will get a way with this kind of deception and lies. Its not the only lie either. I've stopped supporting this company financially a while ago precisely because chris words stopped meaning anything. Even when he promised something, it carried no weight at all and it was as clear as using a chaos orb in terms of actual outcome wether things were implemented the way they said. Just remember the famous line "Get your magic find characters ready" as they nerfed loot by 97%.

Now this kind of behavior has reached its pinnacle and everyone can see just how little they value trasparency, honesty and good practices.

For those who think they are entitled to influence the direction of the development by spending money, you're not, and they reserve the right to change the game as they please. But you're also entitled to not giving them money and voicing your concerns.

Grinding Gear Games breaking trust once again is not surprising, i wish it was different, but it is what it is. Draw your own conclusions

I don’t recall that being “promised” ever lol

Personally I’m happy either way, new game is cool . It will be great to see the game taken to the next level with enhanced graphics. Also this way poe1 won’t be changed to accommodate the new campaign and stuff . Also it’s a year away. Enjoy the year and maybe your opinion will change. Personally I have 100% trust in GGG

theres some who legit dont know.

when presented they would still defend ggg.

there some who know but legit dont care.

there are also a ton of people who dont care about POE1 or even STD.

the discussion topic made me realise that getting input from these people are meaningless.

they dont care, dont understand or purposefully dont want to understand.

some guy on reddit found a mageblood with an excited post on how long it took em to do this and that to get it - and I'm reading it scratching my head thinking about poe2 and - as I understand it - the inability for the player to use in a not so distant future (in poe2) :/

I thought perhaps they could add some item conversion capability as some items don't seem that different from most fundamental affixes, while others that manipulate mechanics such as mana and life are probably completely bricked with things like spirit in the mix so yeah not much hope there. No flask charges in boss fights (I think is what they showcased) also shows they are reworking flasks, so when you think about a Mageblood in poe2... yeah..

To 180 their strategy and make such an announcement to the existing players, they must be pretty strong financially; probably having enough funding for poe2 completion that requires little to no reliance on supporter pack sales in the immediate future.

I can’t buy any more big supporter packs because the forum only supports showing 7 legacy tags.
As a 95% Standard player myself, I like the decision to make PoE 2 a completely different game. I assumed this was going to be the case since they showed the new skill gem system back in 2019, which will not be compatible with existing items with sockets and many of their mods that affect socketed gems.

However, I totally empathize with the people who purchased MTX and spent countless hours hoarding wealth in Standard based on the comments about PoE 2 being a massive update instead. I've also felt fooled in many occasions by undocumented and wrong advertising of changes/nerfs that ultimately lead customers to buy more MTX.

I don't want to blame anybody or to say that this was done in bad faith, but years have taught me to avoid buying stuff until I see the final delivery, unless I have some control over the course of the development.

Hold up - that was no lie - you NEEDED an MF character to find anything LOL. 'get your MF characters ready' wasn't a suggestion or tip, it was an implied 'or else'.
