32:9 ultra wide support gone!
Will check back to see if 32:9 is fixed at a later date, but this really killed the league start for me. Never had issues with things not functioning correctly at the edges of the screen. 32:9 functioning in PoE was a large part of my decision to move to the resolution.
Please revert. Will hopefully come back later. |

Another 21:9 screen with vertical side black bars :(

Just cant believe they did this, changed my steam review to negative. I suggest if it affects you, do the same. Not playable till fixed .

This is a horrible change, and not disclosing it is even worse. I deeply regret buying supporters for this season.

Well what is strange- It was full screen for me until I played for about 10 minutes and tried changing to windowed... Now I can not get it back 32:9.
1st time back to POE after a long break and this is NOT a good experience. In fact I would venture to bet that a VERY significant amount of the player base (that supports POE with buying packs) uses Ultrawide... NEEDS A HOT PATCH ASAP Please and thanks. | |
With one of the best modern changes for me in PoE, came one of the worst changes.... That's so backwards.
You finally acknowledge ultrawide users and then take away the immersion of having one for some of the uers? Last edited by BunkeredBog on Aug 19, 2022, 10:52:58 PM

" (2-3-2019) Buff underused skills (3.23?!)+ selfcast, stop nerfing defense, build in threshold jewels (3.23?!), implement D3-style looting, add death log + MTX preview, actually rework flasks, stop balancing around the .01%, unnerf Harvest, ADD NEW WAYS TO LEVEL, finally implement Loot 2.0

Well, what a disappointment. Hype for the league disappeared when I realised that I will not be able to get my usual 32/9 aspect ratio (that worked perfectly fine until then, at least for the previous league).
As a player and as a fellow developper, I cannot understand the decision. Yes, the behaviour described in the official answer existed. But it's a minor visual glitch. Entities and effects disappearing at the edges wasn't a feature killing bug. Removing a 95% working feature, without complaints from the niche using it, because of a minor and harmless visual glitch, doesn't seems like a correct way to do things. Even more in a patch that emphasis on better ultrawide support... That's the complete opposite. We saw much more problematic visual issues in the game, affecting everyone for quite a long time, without rollback (remember the more efficient textures loading ?). An other point that I saw in a reddit post is that even with thoses black borders, the game still renders at native resolution. I didn't check my GPU usage to verify this, but if it's true, that's not great at all. It means that: 1. Even if the game is displayed as a 21/9 image, the GPU is still working to render not shown pixels. It's a waste of compute power and electricity. 2. As custom aspect ratio are removed, I assume that you can't just force the game to only render what is actually usable on your screen. Worst of both worlds. As for me, I don't know if I will play the rest of this league, or if I will buy mtx again. I played a lot, and wanted to support more the devs, but as a student it wasn't possible. Now that I could spend more money in supporter packs, it seems that they are going in a way where you can't take already existing features as granted. That's not a behaviour that I want to support. I really hope that comments on this post and on reddit will show GGG that it wasn't the correct answer to a minor issue, and that they will go back on this.
