32:9 ultra wide support gone!

I'd rather play sentinel league with ultra wide than what we got now.

I'd rather do pretty much anything else with my time than look at black bars because developers are too incompetent to properly support ultrawide displays in 2022. It made sense for Diablo 2 Resurrected because that game was made over 20 years ago and uses that same game logic. It makes ZERO sense for Path of Exile.

I've got a pretty good steam backlog to work through. I'll sit this league out to play other stuff and hopefully they'll realize this was a bad decision and fix it.

I am honestly surprised at this change, I was for sure this was a bug, even made a post on the technical support forum about it.

I have been running 3840x1080 for years now and have NEVER even once experienced anything even remotely close to the issues you describe that "warrented" this "fix".

Bring back the support and if there is a bug, let us use our wide screens while you fix the bug, instead of just removing support for it.
Seriously?

The game has worked perfectly fine for LITERALLY years at super widescreen resolutions. This was the ENTIRE REASON I've purchased both of my Samsung G9 monitors.

A few points need to be made here:
- Forgot to put in the patch notes, or is that really sneaking in a nerf without mentioning it just to ruin my gaming experience? Regardless, it's dirty pool.
- I've returned games for a refund that don't support ultra widescreen. It's 2022, for crying out loud.

Calling this a disappointment is an understatement. This is the kind of behaviour that causes players to find a modern game with support for today's hardware.

Feel free to message me in game if I'm on.
I never had a problem with 5120x1440, I never saw any effects or entities vanish. You should leave it up to the player whether or not they want to experience these issues that you claim we would have. Not disable the option entirely. I really don't understand why they would spring this on us like this.

I'm not playing until this is reverted.

For me, whether or not a game supports my native 32:9 is a deciding factor in whether I play the game or not. This is 2022, not 2002. I have played POE on my Oddessy G9 without issue. I certainly haven't experienced anything you've mentioned in the reasoning for doing this.

It's nice that to "fix" ultrawide UI, you've simply removed ultrawide support. That's equivalent to closing a road to fix a pothole. Good going, GGG.

Up to the end of Sentinel my monitor was supported, now it's not. I find this deeply disappointing and will not be playing until this change is reverted. I suppose you feel you have enough support from people not using ultrawide monitors, that it's okay to screw over people that are.

Okay, getting off my soapbox...I've got to uninstall POE.

This. Path of Exile's ultra-widescreen support was flawless before this patch.

So, they are making up nonsense, or (more likely) they intentionally broke something behind the scenes to brick ultrawide support.

Cant agree more. It worked perfectly for me before, even at the end of my screen I was able to see herald explosions. I bought a 32x9 just for PoE, and now they give me black bars.... I normally endure all the changes to my builds or complete revamps. But giving me 20cm black bars on both sides that are useless now is nothing I'm willing to take silently.
So I really tried it - I finished act 1 with this crappy resolution.
It felt like 199x when I was playing Diablo 2 on my 15" Screen with 800*600 Resolution. Even though I felt a bit nostalgic it just feels wrong.
We are not in 199x anymore - screens are not 4:3 anymore - give the people the freedom to play this wonderfull game how they like it.

For me today should be a very happy day starting a new league but it ended in a very sad day. Goodbye POE old friend...

Well, I guess it's time for me to uninstall POE. I loved playing on my Samsung G9, and now GGG has decided to go backwards.
Yea I'm done with this game if this is a new "feature" and not a bug
