The Self Found League

Bad idea and requires needless development time to be spent on it. Want self-found? Don't trade. The end.

There is actually nothing to be developed. We already have solo races in which trading is disabled. Configuring the drop rates should not take too long.

Give it another thought.

Yup. This. :)
Looks like someone missed their weekly meeting of Douchebag's Anonymous.

While I'm not opposed to a league like this, I'd likely make a character in it, heck I don't even trade between my own characters that often.

But you really can just not trade. I have not talked to a single player since starting this game about a year ago(?), and not traded. I do just fine this way. D3 it was -incredibly- hard to play into Inferno or progress into MP's without using the AH because the drops where super vast and only 1-2 stats where relevant. That's not the case here. While narrow stats are still highly desired, it's easier to find at this point.

my guess would be that only masochists and tycoon wanna-bes would stick in the trading leagues, and virtually everyone would enjoy your little creation. It's not a place I want to go.

Interesting to write those things together (I think I haven't lost anything by cutting your wall of text). So you're either masochist or a tycoon wannabe? (small joke to break the ice eh) :D

Why shouldn't people enjoy playing? Is it mandatory for a game to fuck with you over and over again so much that in the end it kinda becomes enjoyable (something similar to Stockholm sindrome)? Or what's the reasoning behind that?

As for self-found people having their own league...and if that league would be soooo popular then yeah...something's wrong with other leagues, not the self-found one. And if I understand GGGs stance correctly I can never hope for regular leagues getting anywhere near what people in this thread want. And us separatists already have to deal with "Go play D3" (never played it myself) or "GTFO noob this game is hardcore" or "this game is based on trading" and stuff like that, so why change other leagues for people that like the game as it is so that it accomodates both (which most often fails and satisfies none).

As for me, I play solo, don't trade, I farm that my hands hurt, and still I get shit for drops. Crap uniques, crap rares, any higher-ish currency is like 4th of July. The only 6l I own is Tabula rasa that I dropped 2 weeks ago when levelling an alt and I still use it on that alt at lv71 (killing the dude all the time so I can level gems :P ). I want to use crafting orbs to craft...and be successful in a decent timeframe without having also to be so goddamn lucky. I can spend everything I found in past 5 months and not get 1 6l (let alone decent stats on that). I still keep grinding same shit over and over in hopes of getting some better items but no dice...and my gear for all of my 6 60-80 toons that I'd like to play is pretty sucky (I have 6 so that potentially any good item can be used by some build - yeh, fail concept if you find 0 but still, hope dies last)...but do I have a sense of progression? No, I do not, I'm stagnating for past 2 months. I get an alt to 60-70 now and again only to find out that well, no gear, no fun. If I actually got more good stuff I could level a bit more, do higher/harder maps, I could explore more builds...game would expand for me. But if I have to trade for it...fuck no and to hell with economy "optimised" for trading (btw, I found 3 exalts since I joined..what the hell can I even buy or make with that? Not much). Oh oh, not to mention I'd need (want) about what...hundred gems at 20% quality (and I don't even have 20 GCP lol). /rant

tldr: to hell with traders, gief selffound league.

Hi.

What you say is correct but only to a point.
I'm living proof that you can play the game without trading, but only to a point in PoE, that wasn't the case in D3.
I actually had ~3500 hours in D3, without equipping anything I hadn't found myself. Progressed original inferno into Act 3 and was farming it when the nerfs hit. I was pretty pissed as I could have cheezed to Diablo but would rather every living monster on the way was dead.

That's not a single item over ilvl 60 to enter Act 1, nothing over 61 to enter Act 2 and nothing over 62 when painstakingly pushing Act 3, as melee.

I left with a top EU 500 p100 for class, achieved as a full MF tank at every point before blossoming into a multi-100k dps full IK at p100, all self found (and still without the WW achievement -_- <-proud). Pulling full zones in MP10.

Paragon Level: 100
world: 3134 (barb: 1372)
Europe: 937 (barb: 436)

PoE is no different in that respect, I actually like the drawn out progression that self find gives.

However, this stops when maps actually require an amount of currency that can ONLY be gotten by trading. And this to only seldom access maps after a certain level, never mind attempt to maintain the content.

I'm a bit torn with the whole 'better drops for self-found' as I can play as it is, as far as gear is concerned. But I have to respect that I'm not in large company as far as time I can give to the game. I could still play with better drops, it just means I'd progress quicker, and there is room for that.

But it's the orbs, that's the kicker.
Not for fusing, jewelling or chroming, I'm fine with that. For crafting, yes, but mainly for content access.

If GGG insist on content and progression gated behind orbs, then I see no other choice, for me, than this self-found-league suggestion.

If GGG revise how content is gated, so it doesn't require trading, I'm actually fine how things are.
Casually casual.

I think self found league should be the exact same as normal league just with disabled trading.
(maybe because I want it fast :p )

For now I reached end of act 1 of merciless without any trade and playing solo 99% of the time.

I don't see the point of making the game 'easier' by a way or another. The game will be just harder in this league and so what ? The game is also way harder in HC league.

In this league I think it would be finally nice to play in multiplayer with other players who don't have crazy stuff that make them so powerfull they steal all the fun from others one-shoting everything in sight... you know what I mean.

Dear GGG, please think about it please.

Sorry, little OT here, but I had to respond.

No, it's not.

Difficult and unforgiving are not the same thing. HC is unforgiving, but the difficulty is precisely the same as Standard.

You haven't attempted to roll (never mind sustain) 70 + maps on dropped currency, have you?

The game becomes anything but hard, for self found.
Because the only content you get access to becomes 20+ levels lower than you.

I've been rolling maps on self found currency plenty. Its slow and irritating but its possible. Hell it was 10x worse in CB when you couldnt trade up currency for alcs.

I fully support a solo-self found league with drop rates adjusted to fit this type of league. If GGG would need income to support the servers for such a league add an entrance fee to it for all I care. I enjoy the game as it is now. But I simply wont be spending anymore money on it untill a league like this is made or a better single player (the idea behind solo league) ARPG comes out. Grim dawn is fun but in its current state there is only so many hours you can play it. And before anyone says anything I would without question pick a solo self found PoE over GD any day of the week.
55 pages and not even an official "sorry guys not possible, we have other plans"

the update on the trading system better gets awesome because next to desync it`s the most horrible thing in this great game...
