The Self Found League
Has there been any GGG response to this thread? I mean it is a thread with 136 pages in their suggestion forum. You would assume they are slightly interested in what a part of their player base is thinking.

While I don't trade that often, I wish I would. But I am not too confident in my trading skills (pricing, bartering, staying rock hard and making enemies).
But I would never play a league were I could not trade. That makes all items I find but don't need useless. This is also why I think D3 now became worse than it started out, because now you find upgrades really easy (especially legendaries, so it makes them less exciting) and you cannot trade any items (they also drop almost exclusively with stats of your character). This is just not what an online ARPG (centered around loot) should be. If it was a single player game, sure make drops more often and easier, but if you have a community, removing trading from the game would make the game more a single player game than a multi player game. I mean what if you play a melee char, and find a GG spell caster wand? What do you gonna do with that? You won't use it yourself (unless you reroll), you cannot give it to your friends and you cannot trade it for currency. Not trading would make everything you find less valuable and ultimately make the game boring as fuck. |

" Lol, you think only because they dont respond on respond in the way you want they dont discuss this? They read all the suggestion and discuss them thats how sometimes changes to the game are being made. Its just that many suggestions go to the bottom of the pile and some are plain horrible so people feel their not being heard. |

" You answered yourself there. If you don't want to reroll, those items might be nothing more than vendor recipe items. On the other hand, those vendor trash items have more worth in this league than in other leagues as the pool of items is less. Thus, some items are worth more, some items are worth less. |

GGG make a SFL and remove XP loss. I know a shit ton of people that would come back and play. GGG would be crazy not to do it. Let the elitists play their crap and let casuals have theirs. Oh the egotistical, 3rd party sellers will whine and want to hold on to their wealth and advantage but it's better for GGG to let people play what they want. So what if there is a league for everyone. How can you argue this? So many people want to play solo and mapping is too risky without top gear/cookie cutter builds. Just my two cents.

" I would stop the day they would do that. That is just catering to the casuals. If you want SF and no XP loss, play D3 seriously. No dumb down easy mode for people who can't play. XP is a MUST HAVE to have a punishment for death. If you dislike XP loss, don't die. " Yeah the casuals can have D3. The game was made FOR Hardcore gamers, Chris said this mutiple times. There fucking enough casual games out there. Play Torch Light or D3, but selffound is for a singleplayer offline game, not a multiplayer online game. |

Holy shishkebabs, 137 pages of replies!
Does have a valid point though, trading is not practical; I tried selling a 5 link item for 1 jewelers orb and got 0 replies... @KenshiD: I don't like XP loss either, but I do have lagspikes from time to time and die as a result, getting punished for a bad internet connection isn't how you do it. Yes, build something uber tanky and you can survive lag spikes and yes even then I still die, because that's what I did already. Then again; I'd like to be able to play a high skill, fast pace, paper armor chainsaw build, no defense, only offense, just never get hit and you don't die, which is impossible. |

" Im not Hardcore but i still love this game. Dont generalize, please. Im as casual as they come and i love this game so much because im having fun without the need for trading. I cna just run around and kill stuff with what i find. |

" Hey that is totally fine. I have no problems with casual gamer. I just don't want hardcore games become bad just because the developer want to appeal to casual gamer more. I mean I also play D3 RoS atm, but I don't want PoE to become a second version of it, because then it had nothing to offer anymore. The entire appeal of PoE to me is because it is a HC game with a lot of thought behind it. I can learn, I can adapt, it gives me a long term experience which is beyond nice looking cutscenes and some visual spectacle. See and as I said a couple of posts above I don't trade much either. I wish I would more because it seems like something cool and requires new skills and knowledge and is something to learn and understand. But in general I play solo self found most of the time. And it works. I do maps (70s etc) on my own. I find cool stuff (nothing GG but I never went MF) and it is all fun and so on. But there are some things I like even though they are punishing. EXP penalty and small drop chance are those things. Man I looked at the loot tables for D2 so many times seeing those 0.000000001% chances to drop a rune. But that kept me going. Because if I ever found something really nice I freaked out. It was the greatest joy I ever felt while playing. Last edited by KenshiD#1543 on Mar 26, 2014, 8:44:45 AM

Personal opinion: Self Found League - No fun (from my perspective).
The Why not whys: 1. Trading is fun. Just that the current trading system.. well.. you know what i mean. Still, fun, no trading, no fun. 2. Prestige: lets kill everything while being at risk of losing everything. Thats the salt and pepper of living. 3. Obtaining everyhthing you want to obtain in less time. really? 4. Solo-play? solo-loot? in a multiplayer?... yeah.. right... of course. 5. You can also solo-play with your joystick if you dont like POE Leagues. 6. having all that... in so little time... no glory about finding it... no glory about living in it... no glory in saying "i hard worked for it". Seems legit. 7. Shall i continue? 8. let's team up to loot the guy that i could eventually loot due to spawning in the same league over and over again. Seems legit. 9. The search is a dish best served unlooted, as the loot is best served rarely. 10. Kills the meaning of what POE stands for. Kills the meaning of multiplayer. Kills the Searching. Kills the Sweat of escaping certain death and penalty. Thank you for reading. |
