Sorry for the English mistakes if there any in the following lines, this is not my native language.
I am far from this point, but what I understand is that the endgame looks more like a trading simulator than a hack'n slash. Can you really not beat high-level maps with a self-found character at the current drop rate? If this is truly the case I will assuredly stop playing at my first failed gear check. My interest in Path of Exile is largely due to the absence of an auction house, but this system has all the disadvantages of an auction house without the convenience. Spamming a chat channel, checking forums and bargain all-day long sounds to me more like a second job than a good game design idea. If you refuse to implement a self-found league, then you need to drastically facilitate trading because you cannot force people to deal with a prehistoric trading system in order to progress. This is stupid to such a degree that even RMT looks like a suitable alternative in comparison.

P.-S.: I would gladly pay a reasonable entry fee for a permanent self-found league.

Yep. I disliked the AH in D3, but I would choose the AH over PoE's dark age trading system on any day.

Launch a permanent self-found league and charge the entrance fee. I'd pay up to $100.

My impression so far is GG isn't interested in making money.

What I get from Qarls response is that the game is only going to feel rewarding to people who take every major advantage that they can through trading and group play.

So basically if you play solo and don't play the trade game your just not going to get very much. That is why the drop rates are so bad.

I think the most evident thing is from Qarls post is that he ignores the fact that self found players are at severe disadvantage compared to players that trade, and its not just due to 4L's

Of course he's ignoring it, because SF players choose to do so in a multiplayer online game, so it's their own choice to be "at severe disadvantage". So why would he even consider this in the first place ? It's like playing a game with one dice only, yet it is meant to be played with 2, then whining over and over that you're screwed.

As far I know neither cooperation nor PVP is required to complete the game and they induce at least as much interaction between players than trade. Otherwise, the game is online-only because it makes in-game micropayments possible, not for the joys of multiplayer.

What differences do that make ? The fact is the game is designed around the fact you can party up with people, trade with them, ... so my remark remains : why would Qarl consider the fact that a self found player is "at severe disadvtange" when it is his own choice to play with one dice instead of 2, but yet he's whining over it ? And why is he even comparing himself to the guy with two dices in the first place ?

Because we have signed up for a fucking hack'n slash game, where the main concern is killing satanic shits and gathering loot like a magpie, not "play" virtual forex and reliving our day job once at home.

You have signed up for Path of Exile, where trading is one of the features of the game, not "a fucking hack'n'slash game" as if there were a generic archetype that would be used to criticise all the specific games that are more or less related to the genre. PoE is PoE, not "a fucking hack'n'slash game". And why the fuck have almost all sfl supporters to think that once you start using the trading system, you're playing a virtual trading game, sitting in Lioneye's watch 24/7 and not killing things ? The trading system requires almost no knowledge, and it takes 1 minute to sell something to someone asking it from you, and I don't buy items on a daily basis since you don't need upgrades that often do you ? I'm trading, yet almost all of my time spent in the game is "killing satanic shits and gathering loot like a magpie".
