Oh looks like, I was wrong. Following your idea, we don't need hardcore league neither. And again this quote about splitting the community. SFL players have no impact on trading -> near to no impact to community.


So it would be ok if we have like 10 more leagues because that's how many there would be if we listen to everyone who wants a league.

I used to play PoE and spent $50 on it. Then I quit because the game isn't properly playable solo, deciding to come back when they provide a self-found league. This was months ago. It's such a shame, too. Such a waste. This game has such a uniquely perfect opportunity to provide a proper self-found experience, but the developers just choose not to. I have no idea why. Throughout the history of the ARPG genre, there has been a strong demand for a platform where you can play self-found while simultaneously competing with others in some way. PoE has it all, the perfect foundation for this, everything is in place except... they refuse to allow it. It'd be as simple and effortless as launching a rolling 4-month solo league, but... they just won't. And they won't even justify it, they just ignore the demand.


Exactly this game has a competitive side and now it needs to see that the other side of the coin is SFL and people are actually non competitive by nature but in today's standards this is shunned upon since how can you measure up to anything, lol let alone why you would want to.

Im all for a SFL. I mostly do solo anyway, mainly since for most of the last league I would get disconnects when I changed zones while in a party of more than 1 other person.

However the claim that most people are noncompetitive is inaccurate at best.

Most people have been taught to be noncompetitive. It is a learned behaviour. Watch children: they are brutally competitive and they hate losing. No-one likes losing and the easiest (read: laziest) way to avoid the pain of defeat is to play the 'Im not really competing' game and forego the possibility of feeling victory.

There is a reason that the feeling of victory is the best feeling available to the brain; in terms of a hunter-gatherer victory means life. To not compete means to die. To voluntarily die is no damn use to the species, and thus noncompetetiveness must be taught.

We're just lucky in the here and now that competitiveness isnt a prerequisite to the continuation of breathing.

Its also not a prerequisite to solo victory in PoE.

You sure about that? Darwin never coined the term ''survival of the fittest'' this was made by someone else(Herbert Spencer) and is only mentioned once in his book, Darwin mentions love,cooperation,sharing more often then anything else. We are duped to believe competition is a must to ensure we don't cooperate and figure out that more hands working together get something done faster and sooner then one person thinking they can do it all. Also we are led to assume greed is OK, getting ahead while stepping on others is OK. I am not though wholly disagreeing that competitiveness must be taught but it must be taught in a balanced manner. The present system is unbalanced.

Keep in mind depending on your perception you will always win or lose, fight the battle lose the war, etc.. we as a species need to realize we are only going in circles with this ideology, these thoughts are elementary steps in our continual evolution, rise above and see the colors of the world for what they truly are: No wins or losses just life going on.

Many a problem has resulted with our belief in competition/survival of the fittest(coupled with economics, its our present day titan) lest we forget Eugenics...

easy solution for the "Self-Found-League" thing

so i think GGG's biggest problem with a selffound league is that it would split up the community even more than now between 4 leagues and not change much for the players, since everyone can play selffound in other current leagues anyway! only without others people knowing it... so why not change this!

add something like a special note in the ladder for a player who plays selffound:
- this means they have never joined a party or traded with someone before
- when people dont want to play this style anymore they can just disable the selffound mode and join parties
- it should look something like this on the ladder:
