The game feels horrible to play the 3.15 nerfs + the 3.16 nerfs have just killed this game
About the whiteknighting is like I remember a thread asking for auto loot or at least stackable currency and guess what? People saying/praising that u should click and pick each scroll cause this or that and company is perfect blabla. Now same people say ggg perfect for doing what others suggested and got clapped for doing so.
And ofcorse fun is subjective. But if u are unhappy u SHOULD express such feelings especially cause the game u played and had fun was diferent than its today. Its the same game so ofcorse people will be mad. I never complained for some years cause although not perfect for me it was what they sold but rn the game is completely diferent. Its like someone pick d2 and change everything u like in that game and remove the option to go back and play the way u used to play. U will be mad. Yeah some people are harsh even I was when I got serious performance problems that took 2 weeks and patches to fix but again if u don't complain they will not fix. The qol on stacks that everybody liked was a product of constant complains during the years for exemple. |

Besides Im ignoring most of those complaints, because I do agree with what GGG is trying to do here. They need powercreep as a marketing tool but they cant keep stacking powercreep endlessly - thats the problem they were facing for years and are facing now, however they didnt act on it for far too long. Im assuming they wanted to PoE2´s "close" to completion, so anyone jumping ship now would either be drawn in again once PoE2 launches or will be replaced by a flood of newcomers checking the game out. Ofc thats just me guessing. Regardless, they needed to take down the playerpower so they can keep introducing more powercreep for years to come and sell supporterpacks subsequently. Thats the vision Chris keeps talking about. Not slowing down the game for the sake of slowing it down or pissing off the playerbase for no good reason. This is a business after all and every business wants to make money. Thats the sole purpose of every single business out there. They only have one way of making money, thats selling supporter packs and the only way to make players spend money is by making them play the game and in order to achieve that, you have to give them a reason to play. That would be powercreep. Its a simple as it gets and ofc now someone will claim they are doing it because they are RMT ponzy schemes and make money that way. As if that was sustainable for years and wouldnt end badly at some point. But the tinfoil crowd loves stuff like that and wont stop claiming stuff like this was true anytime soon. Also makes it easier to claim victimhood... Im not a fan of conspiracy theories. I like simple explanations better and culling stuff to add it back and profit off it makes far more sense to me. |

" That's the catch. Ur point on them reducing the powercreep. Its not happening. Not at all. Look at the numbers, poeninja, streamers or build urself the metabuilds. Bosses still dieing in 1 sec. Hell even my summoner is killing a8 bosses in a couple of secs and I'm far from min max or even rly good gear. What they are doing is META SHIFT and they rly love clips of streamers dieying cause the cheap corpse explosion death that plagued the game in the past now is everywhere. U simply don't lose hp till boom ur dead. They want to slow the game down but keep pushing timers on every single new mechanic forcing u to go fast. I could go on and on. Progression is a joke even on self found cause u lvl far too fast and softcap urself easily and then u need to grind hours upon hours in hope rng will reward u (being trading or crafting) THis league they introduced a "new" defence called spell supression and for sure they WANT U TO TRY IT. Its like mandatory, they spent time designing it so they for sure want u to use it. Problem is they forgot about the left side of the tree. In the end they changed a lot but changed nothing but pissed people. Fortify? hahaha would be better to just delete from the game as they did with dodge and rebalance or create another blabla defence. I think the dev team is as divided as we community are. I bet some devs want one thing, others another and this clash is bringing these weird changes that don't go anywhere but piss players and create animosity between the community |

Yes, they need powercreep as an element of marketing but not to the extend of what it is in the game right now.
Beside that, the reduction of powercreep should never be done at the expense of the most casual players whom will stop playing plain an simple. I'm not happy with the state of the game in 3.16. It needs more balance, more nerfs to monters and reintroduction of power for non meta builds that are way behind. The build i played during ritual has lost 80% of its DPS,resulting of me not being able to finish the story this league and struggling against bosses for 10 min long fights when i delete mobs before said bosses in 2-3 hits max. Path of Exile is a Casino for gambling addicts.

" It is happening and will continue for some time to come. You seem to expect they could pull this off in a single patch and also get it right first try. Thats unrealistic at best. It took them years to build this powercreep. Years! It will likely take several more patches and several more iterations to get it right. This is one of the few things I really dont like about their approach and why I do blame them for not culling earlier on a regular basis. All they did was nerfing builds/mechanics at the topend for years. Now they have to rush it in record time and deal with the inevitable backlash. Thats why you feel the game is less fun, thats also why you are witnessing so many "the sky is falling" threads here and elsewhere. It takes time to tune it down. There is only so much they can do in a single patch when they also have to work on new league content and PoE2 as well while they cant hire more people due to ongoing worldwide events, travel restrictions and lockdowns hindering the regular workflow. The timing couldnt possibly be worse but it is what it is I guess. I still have faith in GGG and Chris. They didnt create the most successful ARPG accidently. Some people here might think that and also think GGG are out of touch and dont know what they are doing. I think they do know full well what they are doing but I also think they are trying to accomplish far more than they can possibly handle right now. Thats not exactly newsworthy when you are looking at GGGs trackrecord. They tend to do this quite often. Mostly successful I might add but sometimes it does backfire. |

" They have not been nerfing the topend at all. Targeting gems and the like affects everyone, and those not at the topend are the ones who actually feel the impact it causes. Those at the top can just compensate by buying more powerful gear and nothing will change for them. We still have T1 mods, influence mods, elevated mods, cluster jewel stacking. These are all things most players will never utilize, but the topend will. In fact, it's gotten worse. Did we need a Mageblood? I don't think so. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I honestly expected something like this to happen years ago. Gear has to be the most important factor in a game like this. So culling the power gems provided does make sense. Gear is where the power should be. Not the tree, not the gems. Thats just the basics everyone gets for free, so that cant be the source of endgame power. Not in a game thats supposed to be grindy and revolves around trade. There is nothing grindy about equipping gems or allocating skillpoints. Getting the gear is where its at. And yes we did need a Mageblood. All you see is stuff you cant have and you are mad. What I see is a big ticket that can fund the entire league for everyone lucky enough to drop one. Thats why RNG exists and is so important especially for casuals. They can drop this stuff too and get rich. Its like winning the lottery. You might not be the lucky one, someone will be though and thats all that matters in an online trading game. Its literally a carrot on a stick. Might not work for you - for others it can be a motivating factor and driving force. But it has to be and powerful and rare to be extremely valuable, otherwise its just another worthless drop you´ll vendor for alch shards or not even bother to pick up. 3.15 ruined PoE. PoE was a rickety, patchwork jalopy that somehow drove like a dream -- despite an occasional sputtering engine. Then they tried to fix the transmission and install a restrictor plate and now the gearshift grinds and the whole thing is coming apart at the seams. And, since there's a new restrictor plate and the new transmission doesn't have as much power, the jalopy is nowhere near as fun to drive. So the whole goddamned thing feels broken. I stopped caring in ggg nerfs even if the nerfs will result to the impossibility of reaching 2M tooltip sirus dps in the future but please let us kill the bosses and rares comfortably with 500k-1M tooltip dps. I miss my 100% chaos conversion flame totem with consuming+infernal mantle build in warbands league. I only had 30-40k tooltip dps at that time (my most beloved and powerful character) but it was so powerful melts everything and the only major weakness of it was porcupines. sadly ggg surrendered to the demands of the whiners coz 100% chaos conversion was so unfair for non-chaos build against reflect.
