" Imagine being you, defending a guy crashing his business by being a terrible businessman. The stats don't lie. |
|
what made poe thrive were broken builds/interactions ever since. this is a PvE game, most people either love to chase and minmax the FOTM build that turns the game into a joke or go for the wonky but fun (living off of weird but clever interactions) build.
the new approach feels like they try making the one perfectly balanced game that has perfect 3 months progress even for people who play 24/7, but stays fun for people who only play 10hours a week. At what cost though... |
|
" well you're right about stats not lying. this was among PoE's top 3 launches so clearly something is working. People on these forums sounding like WoW players lol |
|
" According to stats PoE is dying every single league for past 7 years. At this point we can say that its either immortal, or can revive as many times as needed. |
|
" I think that this is an incredibly important point. The changes that have been made mean that whilst there are still a few all powerful builds there are no wonky but fun builds because experimentation is discouraged for the average player. From a longevity perspective this means build your seismic trapper, (or whatever FOTM) clear what you want, then as nothing else is viable quit the league. " There's been images floating around contesting the truth of those player counts. I myself saw a glimpse and found the image to be telling the truth, though my testing wasn't as long lived as some other contend. As for the stats, this is also the quickest dying league they've ever released. Did you notice the title of this thread? This game is barely doing better than Lost Ark closed beta, as much as I loath to bring up other games. " Hyperbole is the argument of people who wish to hide the truth. Nobody in the long time of this game has said it was dying except in both Beastiary and Synthesis which experienced sharp dropoffs in counts and negative player sentiment. But even those leagues had the sentiment of being "one-off" abberations that GGG could recover from. This, however, is a much different case as people are no longer protesting or voicing opinions, they're just walking out. And this is with Chris all the while going full steam ahead on his vision, despite the fact that people don't like it. This game is never immortal, and I never said it would die. But, it's likely going to be scaled far back in the future, and I suspect PoE2 isn't going to be able to deliver. |

" Launch numbers mean EXTREMELY little in terms of if the game is actually good. Launch numbers are fantastic for the devs, and specifically PoE because launch is where the vast majority of revenue comes in. That's why day 2 is the loot box drop. But for if the game is fun? Retainment numbers are what count. Diablo 3 had the largest launch of any video game in history at the time, and how many of us here think D3 is a 'good' arpg? A league launching with high player count is great for GGG, a league retaining a high player count means it's actually fun to play. |

" Yeah.. I've come to the conclusion that many game devs even those who have something special often don't know what's special about good games. We see it so often now. With so much trash on the market I guess good things can still happen by mistake. |

I think people are leaving becuz of constant 1 shots despite the "defensive buffs"..
I really don't enjoy this game when I'm constantly dying. I specifically took the most meta and tanky build but I still get 1 shot. Granted I could stack more life / LGOH / defensive layers but I barely even care anymore. Just probably gonna quit or play extremely casually (.5 - 1 hour per day). |
