Looks like a lot of players don't want to play tower defence.

Playing last night and most of the towns were pretty empty compared to Legion League. Let's see where this weekend stat's are at:

Average already below 20K and only a couple weeks into the league. Comparing to first month of other leagues (yes I know we don't have a full month of numbers yet so this is skewed by end of Legion League so I'll need to check back on October 6th) it's clear that a combination of not liking tower defense plus other new games to play is killing interest in this league. That means when another arpg with a great story and butter smooth QoP comes along eventually GGG is going to be in a bad way.

Legion end month peak less than all other leagues

Legion confirmed worst league to date????? Betrayal confirmed best league ever???

Thats the message I get from this.

Lol what a conclusion.

Its obvious that Blight was ill-conceived, from a performance and replayability standard. Coupled with the minion buffs, the resultive stress in put on processing was disastrous.

I do think this may turn out to be one of GGG's worst leagues from a technical and player retention standpoint.

It's bad. Really bad. I'm glad I sat this one out. I hope there are some significant lessons learned for 3.9 and eventually 4.0 as the stakes just get higher with D4 looming...

Willing to bet though that 3.9 will be worse than this league though. Its tradition for the winter time league to be bad.
I'm still baffled by the... "Need"? To fit every graph and statistics into one's own narrative.

We know that not every player uses Steam. We know that (at least parts) of Asia don't use Steam. We know that outside reasons (other games, season, burnouts, whatever) may have their effect/affect on the numbers.

Yet; the moment the western Steam numbers are down, it's: THIS LEAGUE SUCKS! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST. THIS GAME IS DEAD! I HATE GGG FOR EVERY PIECE OF CONTENT THEY RELEASE, AND THE NUMBERS AGREE WITH ME!

I'll repeat myself: The ONLY thing that graphs shows us, is that less western Steam uses are playing this league compared to the last league, a league with a record(?) influx of new players.

I wonder; between standalone client users, Garena users, Korean users (are they using Steam?) - how many players does this game have? How many percentages are Steam users? I would very much like to know.

He reiterated that Betrayal is Path of Exile’s most successful expansion, with nearly 200,000 concurrent players. This doesn’t even include those playing in China or Taiwan or on the Xbox One.

(Nor the PS4 version)

I can't get into this league at all. Bluescreens and the fact that you can't really even do the blighted maps ruined it for me.

Sad to hear. Is that the "general" experience on PS4?

I've had close to zero problems on PC. A slight FPS decrease on Blighted maps, but that's about it - and nothing I can't live with. But as a baseline, it's sad that we "have" to "live" with problems like these.

It seems to me that Blighted maps are a gamble. Some sort of "trial and error". Call it a survey, if you'd like - in preparation og 4.0. "Can we do content like this?".

We also know that (at least parts) of Asia do not even play our poe, they play the Tencent version. And the other games, burnouts and whatever also applied to all the previous leagues so..... Like it or not this league is dead. Not saying that poe is dead or people are not coming back next league but THIS league is as dead as Elvis. Often you can join trade chat 1 without reading a new post for minutes. The game right now feels more empty than ever before period!

PoE doesn't feel fun anymore for some reason. This game is getting old. I will wait for 4.0 instead. Funny thing is I'm more hyped about D4 than PoE 4.0. Even if I hated D3. Because at least Blizzard can make a game that runs smoothly.

It's not that it isnt fun, it actually is, but the core game is stale as fuck. The leagues are basically lipstick on a pig at this point.

When the leagues are not good (see synthesis & blight), the impacts are dramatic. Not many people want to play the base game anymore (this is a massive issue). They just leave completely.

With regards to D4, it's likely this will be a very good game. Chances are it wont be great, but equal chance it wont be bad. It will be sound from a performance and playability standpoint, with some classic Diablo lore. For most of us, that's plenty good enough. It doesnt have to transcend arpgs like D2 Lord of Destruction did.

this is definitely my take as well, the base game has serious fatigue for those of us that play every league. What it comes down to is everything is easy and we've seen everything before.

League mechanics are new and fun but alot hinges on them and GGG generally make them rare enough that you feel like your wasting your time really. The playerbase at large is just too used to the game systems now like alts are more expensive than ever, I genuinely believe because the number of players that actually loot and vendor rares is at an all time low.

I'm not in the D4 woohoo camp though Blizzard are not even close to the developer they were and I'd expect it to be fun for 20 hours then done kinda ARPG, like torchlight for me (sorry torchlight lovers)
