Looks like a lot of players don't want to play tower defence.
Why would someone want to play tower defense when they are playing an arpg?

" Because depth of gameplay? Some people actually like gaming, so more game in a game is always better. Edit: That's sorta the whole reason ARPGs exist. Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good. Last edited by LV9999Majin on Sep 17, 2019, 10:28:20 PM

Steam charts and even actual player count doesnt matter. Revenue from mtx does and no one has any clue where GGG lies with that.

" im not specifically saying steam charts are inaccurate, just irrelevant. no game will grow and grow and grow forever. poe had a significantly lower population for years, and look at us now in fact, GGG really didn't advertise well until fairly recently. within the two years. " Legion, Breach, Delve, Incursion, Harbinger, Prophecy, Betrayal... and then tower defense? "Path of Exile's engine is currently modern, lean and fast." - Chris Wilson, September 19th, 2019

" Yeah, finaly something different. Its more of a horde mode honestly but at least its not another glorified strongbox. | |
" And then you realize that arpg's are usually about slaying hordes of monsters. And that you don't need the towers to complete blight events. And that blight events are spawning so many monsters they crash maps and instances. Return to 1. As for the OP : nice non-variable analysis metric you got there, proves nothing and says close to nothing worth considering. This metric would only be relevant if the "why" wasn't obviously easy to answer and wasn't accounted for. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

I would be playing, since I've gone pretty hard on each league for awhile now. but. WoW Classic.

I think the league mechanic is too hard and cumbersome in the beginning of the game, and once people check it out they say nope and peace out.
I'm sure someone is gonna come flame me, tell me I'm trash, but this was what it felt like leveling up. I started an RF character, so I leveled with melee skills, and those 3-4 branch portals were just too tanky for me to kill all the mobs. And then you fail, and get zero rewards. I can only imagine less dedicated players said hell with this with so many other options to play right now. If the mechanic feels bad out of the gate, and it did to me, I can see a ton of people just quitting and going to play something else. I only stuck around personally because a friend is/was playing, so I felt more obligated but I would have quit before I finished all 10 acts otherwise becuase it just felt like a bad league from the start. When I finally hit my build, its free loot now, but almost during the entire leveling phase I started just skipping them out of frustration, because I couldnt kill the mobs fast enough. I imagine most people not playing a meta or great leveling build ran into some similar issues. Also, the towers are just more screen clutter and seem to do absolutely nothing early on, so it seemed less like tower defense. Not to mention the annoying 4-5 lanes not converging. THey could have made it fun and hectic without having to have a start pattern where you run around like a chicken wiht your head cut off trying to stop all the monsters. The beginning of the game is where you can tell how fun the league is going to be, and it really does not feel fun at all. Its got that annoying Bestiary-type feel to it, and its possibly even worse becuase you will get zilch if you fail those things, and I can see a lot of casual player's characters failing them left and right due to items or poor starting builds.
