Time Capsule from PoE Closed Beta -- a classic PoE vs D3 thread circa 2012
" Fact of the matter is that, like the last post provided, people will assume to defend either game without really thinking about the posts. I didn't mention skills within the post he refered to, yet he brought it up. I applaud the effort, I really do, but the internet tends to cause discorse between two games such as these to become polluted with too much bias to effectively be useful. Is cesspool a bit of a strong word? Prolly, but unfortunetly, I too am a little biased, against this discussion in particular Though I do apologize, of the D3vPoE discussions, this does seem to be one that is more civil then the rest. Edit: Also to clear I+P, I was not specifically refering to this thread as a cesspool, but rather the entire subject. Last edited by EpsiIon#3923 on Apr 17, 2012, 4:04:11 AM

I'm okay with cesspool. Like I said, we (and I do believe it's a collective effort) are trying to take our dumps, if you will, politely and discreetly. It's better to do it here than in-game, I think. A thousand times better.
I know on any D3 board, this wouldn't have happened, mainly because 'Why I choose D3 over Path of Exile' really has no substance behind it, no 'oh, but WHY?' factor. MOST people choose D3 over Path of Exile, even after discovering PoE. And that's cool. I've said before I envy those people. I miss Blizzard-love. It kept me very warm for many a night, especially in the caves. It gets hot down there. But when you find a product that you feel not that many people are championing and you want to champion it, I think it's natural to want to do so. And folk like Tagek, who clearly do not HATE PoE but still like or even love D3, well, they're good for the balance too. And I do so hate an unbalanced discussion. We call those 'lectures' and 'presentations', and even real lectures and presentations tend to have question time at the end. 'Why I choose'...that is the key to what happened here. It's not about which is better or worse objectively, but which you prefer, which you choose, and why. And of course 'both' is a great option. I said as much in my second post. But for those who want to choose (either way), I think it's good to say why. In short, if you're going to air grievances over D3 (or PoE, for that matter), you could do far worse than doing it here. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

True, I would love to see a video of a group of D3 fanatics protesting at GGG offices as their form of expressing their griefs.
I still believe my posts need to be a lil' venomous, it wards off the trolls. |

No worries -- been there, done that. Hung up my guns a while ago, but I respect the choice to sling 'em.
I take comfort in the fact that a fair majority of the player base never even thinks to hit a forum. Most probably even turn off the in-game chat. Smart move. We're the junkies, not them. We're the one with the problem. Unfortunately this forum (if not this board) has a LOT of answers to questions people keep asking in-game! *sigh* Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

Conflict is good! It creates solution.

Im just a prolific forum junkie becuase of the fact that I am often with internet access, but it's not good enough to be able to access games or so forth.
People who ask questions in game and have obviously never even opened up the forums or google and read the first page of the new players FAQ baffle me. I still suggest that every game in existance link a new players FAQ to the downloader/patcher so that while they wait for the game to DL they can learn how to move. If I hear or have to tell one more "Oak is in Pallet Town" joke, I will strangle something. |

" Well it's actually more around 20 per class, but the runes basically make it 20x7 per class. Ok, not all the runes alter the skills that much, but every rune does alter the skill enough, with at least some per skill that alter it entirely. Anyway @ Epsilon. My point was, you said there isn't as much choice as you were led to believe. They didn't really remove choice, they just don't tie you down to it anymore. That's why I mentioned the skills. Oh, shit. You were talking about D3. I was talking about D2.
Oops. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

" Hah ok, I assumed you just mistyped D2 instead of D3. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

" Although I agree with this somewhat, I feel there's still something wrong with that demand. Imo, a truly good game should never (or at least hardly) require you to read some FaQ before playing it. After all, gaming, for most people, is just about having fun. I don't know about you, but reading FaQs isn't very fun to me. It's much better if you try to explain things more in your game rather than referring to out of the game FaQs and what not. PoE for example doesn't explain things well enough (yet), but I'm sure they'll get that fixed up before the release. Don't get me wrong, I don't ask to be held by the hand. But the way PoE's questing is set up, you kind of expect something to pop up telling you what to do next. When it does that with some quests, and not with some others, it can become a little confusing. I myself asked for directions a couple of times in situations where no quest up after I had just finished one. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.
