Time Capsule from PoE Closed Beta -- a classic PoE vs D3 thread circa 2012

Oh goodness yes! I remember that damned ring and wondering why I'd ever want to use it. I fail to recollect but that was a quest unique, was it not?

I'm hoping that Diablo 3 brings back some of the classic items like the Undead Crown, Butcher's Cleaver, Harlequin Crest and of course the Grandfather. I still remember when I'd run Lazarus/Black Jade/Red Vex endlessly on BNet and eventually had a GF and Stormshield. Great times.
Has anyone tried playing D1 on a Windows 7 or Vista machine? I am getting hankering to play it again (upon reading this thread) and I would like to know if it is just going to be too painful. (Plus I have to find my disk)

Probably not very doable. If you do try it, at least put it on windows xp compatibility.

The silence is your answer.''

Constricting Ring:

Constantly lose life
All resists maximum.

Not a quest reward. Quest reward rings were The Ring of Truth and The Empyrean Band.

Never had much use for constricting ring myself, really. I liked the Ring of Engagement. People used to drop it in town if they wanted to roleplay-propose within the larger RP guilds of Bnet. Cute stuff.

Favourite D1 unique was Dreamflange for my pure tankmage (when it was a mace), closely followed by Royal Circlet. Naj's Light Plate was also a must for a sorc. But Rod on Onan...ahhahah, dirty.

I can guarantee my unique in PoE has a pretty nasty drawback. Not exactly a curse, but...definitely a negative condition. :) Maybe two.

Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

“God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”
Given Blizzard's amazing penchant for fan-service, I would eat a small goat lathered in sour cream with a sprinkling of woodchips if they didn't put at least one or two D1 uniques in D3.

Hah, at least they kept the tradition going. I also scanned through a few more uniques and had to laugh when I saw the famed hack item of, "Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac."

Hopefully D3 ends up being a good enough game that an old man (lol) like me can look past the "good ol' days."
You could actually drop legitimate Obsidian Rings of the Zodiac. A succubus in Hell level 15 gave me mine. I took a screenshot of Cain IDing it, but it's long gone now. I do remember it wasn't perfect -- +17 all stats, a mere 38% resist all, I think it was.

So I read this, all of it, and wow it made me think of my childhood back From D1-D2... and because of your post, I am compelled to buy a beta key... (even though I don't get paid until this week, but hey, it's not too bad atm ^^)

Anyways, thanks for the read, I really enjoyed it, and I hope I get to enjoy PoE like I'm hoping too and hopefully it plays better and have much more than D3 (Maybe I'm hyping it too much, D3 that is)

Edit: I was skeptical to buy a beta key (I was just going to get the $15 one and after reading this, I feel like I should at least get the bronze pack. but hey, I might as well do it, I'm up here at 5 am looking at my wallet and seeing which pack to get... so hard to choose.
