You're right of course :-) My first reply to him, which I think got buried quickly, was much more level headed...I really am interested in his claim that D3 brought him back to the days of D1 as everything I've seen and read speaks otherwise. I'd love it if D3 had D1/PoE's sinister environment, that just doesn't seem to be the case.

Edit: Really though, D3 should be oozing darkness and sinister violence; it's a game about demonic hordes for heaven's sake. PoE shouldn't even come close in it's darkness let alone surpass it by leaps and bounds.

Well to me, regardless of the atmosphere the game will provide, the story provides a ton of atmosphere to the world by itself, and I know that that's going to be good.

The problem is... he's just spouting some mindless crap about how D3 is better (it reminds me a lot what I can read on this forum about how D3 sucks actually).

Saying D3 sucks is ridiculous.

Actually all the linked reviews were terrible. Spelling errors and the like abound, especially in that good cop/bad cop article.

I'm sorry -- just because you can make a gaming blog and get into a beta *doesn't mean you're a bloody journalist*. I get tired of people asking me why I don't have a blog -- it's for precisely that reason. They almost inherently lack integrity, and most people just do it to see what free shit they can get.

Yeah, not really a good example or two there.

D3 will be a critical darling. Don't even begin to believe otherwise there. Lesser games than it have managed to be, after all, mostly coasting along on developer reputation and hype.

It will also be a commercial hit.

I don't think anyone here would argue against either point.

Where this leaves those of us who still won't or don't like the game is a very interesting position indeed, most easily named 'antiquated.' Like it or not, that's the way it is.

And isn't there some joy in the fact that the developers who cater to our antiquated tastes are called 'Grinding Gear Games' -- the very image evokes a sort of archaic mechanic, something essential to so many machines and yet absent from almost all modern electronics. Something...fundamental, hard-working, relentless, driven...and compared to the fickleness of silicone and circuitry, extremely reliable.

Sort of like a valve I guess, heh.

(A blizzard, on the other hand, is more likely to halt your progress than assist it. Heh heh.)

For the record, D3 already is, and you play heros with epic battles, not a bunch of ugly beggars with a bunch of lackluster skills.

Leaps and bounds, the environment in this clone garbage is horrendous, especially act 2.

The amount of people interested in this clone garbage speaks volume, you can continue to delude yourselves by saying this is better, then again, what else can fanboys do.
