Yet, they are still making one of the best games ever....you may not like WoW, SC2 or even Diablo 3.. but these games are just damn good and top quality games.
If they pursuit of money...well..they should to...that's the point..isn't it? I have yet to see game where they compromised quality because of money.
And to be clear.. I love PoE a lot. So I am not GGG hater or something.

As a person who has played Diablo for the past 15 years as well since the shareware version (hello PC gamer 1996 issue!), saw the rise of Battle.net in 1997 and played Diablo 1/2 more than any other game I generally think this game lacks the "soul" if you know what I mean. It feels.. empty. I only played through act 1 and quite a bit of act 2 but it just doesn't feel like I'm a hero in a living gameworld beating the crap out of minions.
Maybe it's the lack of voice acting, or poor quests or the fact that the combat is a bit slow paced or the enemies don't appear to be mean and loud enough. Maybe it's all those things combined. I find PoE to be very raw at the moment with lots of potential but I also think it has long way to be considered as a premium hack&slash title.
Also, before anyone starts to flame me I won't purchase D3 either at the current state and go for Torchlight 2 instead whenever that comes out.

D2 skills had lvl requirement just like D3, D2 had runes too, in D3 runes are used to give different enchaments/variations of skills, in D2 all skills at lvl 30 were open and you could potentialy assign 1 skill point to any skill like D3, if D2 had the D3 skill system we could have had build like:
A Bash barb
A Barb leap
A Barb All Masteries
fill the list with all the remaing Barb skills and do the same with all the other chars, this is called variation not the 3-4 usual builds
I'm sorry, I think you haven't heard about patch 13. Comparing the D2 runes to D3 runes is utterly misinformed, especially now.
Yes, skills had level requirements in D3, but you had a lot more variety choice-wise level-wise. At level one, a sorceress could go fire, lightning or ice; a necromancer could get a skeleton (ew), bone armour (yay!), a basic amplify damage curse (whee) or teeth (not bad). See? There is nowhere near that level of customisation in D3 at level 1. And runes in D3 kick in SO slowly as to be negligible until nigh end-game; indeed, some runes ONLY kick in around end-game. Comparing that to the runes of D2 is really...really silly.
Also, if you think some of the people posting here felt locked into 'the usual 3-4 builds' of any given class of D2, you must have not even READ my post or some of the others. We saw much more potential in any of the classes than that, optimal or otherwise.

I don't see what D2 runes have to with D3 runes in the first place... they refer to something entirely different in each game.

This is actually true; you're not a hero in Wraeclast. You're some poor sap who pissed off the authorities of Oriath and got dumped into this savage land with nothing but a single weapon and a fellow survivor who is promptly eaten by a zombie (/spoilers).
Lack of voice acting is temporary. This is a fact.
Poor quests -- I do agree they're sort of bland. On the other hand, they serve the function demanded of typical ARPG quests. For the record, I liked the Allflame quest. A lot. Nice little twist.
Combat pace -- slow? Seriously? No slower than D2, I think.
Enemies -- early on, they're early on type monsters. zombies, skeletons, a few wretched survivors. Go further in and you'll find some pretty awful critters, especially those damn spiders.
And I contend that PoE shouldn't be viewed as a premium hack-n-slash title. Is premium even a compliment these days? It's authentic, and if that means a little raw, so be it.
That all said, many changes are coming -- I know at least one on the horizon due to my unique-designing interaction with GGG. The game is raw right now, and I am sure it's still cooking, the paraphrase The Doctor post-regeneration. I just hope it never gets overcooked.
No flames from me, just commentary. That's all I'll ever provide.

To be honest, you're still a hero.
Honestly, do you really think if you were exiled to some fucked up place your first reaction would not be to go find food, but to beat your way through hordes of demons and undead to defeat an even stronger demon? No.
Sure, you don't come there with the intention of being a hero, but you still become one.
As for the combat I do actually think it is a little slow right now.
This is not because of the actual combat mechanics, but because (as I've mentioned before) there are only skills that would be 'low level' in other ARPGS.
Once they add actual cool abilities this will be solved.

Diablo 3 did a lot of thing wrong.
One of biggest is that it's not fun anymore to lvl. After you get skills you need you are done. Nothing more to wait for, all is automatically done by computer becouse it thinks you're too stupid to do it yourself (or is it maybe blizzard that thinks that). They succeeded to kill one of the funniest part for me in any rpg game. Its just boring.
Also replayability from d2 comes from trying different build, and finding items for that build. Now, there are no builds you just change them on fly. WTF? And they call it it a diablo 3...boring. Good that killing is fun... for some time, when you can see what is hapening on screen if you have 2 players playing together. No wonder there is limit of only 4 players with no mercenaries.
Diablo 2's replay value never came from rerolling.
Unless you consider spending about 5 hours boosting a character 'fun'. The real replayability came from actually using different builds, which diablo 3 actually has more of than D2, and the item hunting.
Never comed from rerolling? Lol. Yee, you know how I and others played the game. A big number of people (almost my whole guild)actually played the game with rerolling. I'm not talking about rushing the game (thats not playing), but playing it with you different build from beginning, learning there weekneses. Free respect shurley doesn't add to replayability, and makes your chooses not that important.
It has more builds (i would not call them that becouse you have all skills availebel to you, so you just choose what skill you want when you want without bonding with you character), becouse of a lot more skills.

Very well said CharanJaydemyr. Very well said indeed. I must agree with you on all counts. Being a Diablo veteran myself I was devastated, enraged, and utterly depressed by the atrocity that was Diablo 3. After the long and drawn out wait for the release of Diablo 3 I was terribly upset by what was churned out. Path of Exile is a bright light.

Because you have played the full game?
I understand what you are trying to say, but you're talking like it's been a year since diablo 3's release.
