Time Capsule from PoE Closed Beta -- a classic PoE vs D3 thread circa 2012

Funny, I've yet to find Flicker Strike OR Viper Strike. I kinda said "screw this" and switched to an axe build and I just use Phase Run.

Another issue is that so many skills are multi-use. Phase run and Flicker Strike are way too useful even at low levels with a wide range of classes.
maybe I'm wrong about Flicker Strike, I don't really remember, but you get it before finishing normal.

As for Viper Strike, I'm sure you get it in act 1 :)
it's one of the very first skills you can get.

It depends on your class, if you're playing a dex class or not.

That may have something to do with it being a PoE forum.

You'll find plenty of great arguments against PoE in the beta feedback forum. ArcieM produced a WICKED one that I've yet to complete my response to. It's that hardcore. Seriously.

I view this forum as the first-stop for people wondering 'why PoE?'

Solid arguments against it are probably not as conducive for further interest as solid arguments for it.

But don't doubt for a second I couldn't argue reasonably against PoE. I'd just have to shift gears.

I have no doubt you could :-) And my comment was facetious, playfully picking up on Tagek's typo :-)

Being the type to run staff-witches and two-handed-sword rangers and firestorm duelists, I actually pick quest reward gems based on either alts or planned builds. They very rarely benefit the character I'm actually playing!

Viper Strike I got very early this way, I think.
Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

Post this sentiment publicly and see how long it lasts here.
Today I tried Diablo 3 beta. I was skeptical and after I finished it I'm still not convinced. I can afford the game and maybe I will play it casually... but I hate the graphics and there is no liberty. For me Blizzard always meant only Warcraft 2, Lost Vikings and Diablo 1-2.

Anyways, I haven't speak to my cousin for more than 6 months because I was in China somewhere. Last year he told me that Diablo 3 it will be the only game he will play because he has 2 kids now bla bla.

I had a D3 beta account today and I contacted him to try the game. He said "no thx I will wait, I preordered D3... but you should try PoE, it seems much cooler and has D2 feeling"

Wow. haha :)
Now we will meet online and try some new HC chars in bigger parties with old diablo fans.

GL to the devs!

Yep, that's how I did my dagger crit viper strike witch aswell.
if you want to use some skills unrelated to your stats, you should play other classes before.

edit: damn, everyone has something bad to say about diablo ^^;
sometimes D3 is for casuals because there's no skill tree and you have full respec. And sometimes you have no liberty because... I don't know ^^;

That's actually something they could change then.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have to play another character before you can properly make the character you really want to play.

You're right, ArchieM's comments about game immersion and atmosphere (if that is the post to which you refer) are profound and concerning for someone for whom atmosphere is of utmost concern. I'm looking forward to evaluating it for myself. In any case, I hope his comments are taken seriously by the developers.
i preordered D3 and i can't stay in my pants waiting for it. so i was searching in the internets to find some isometric cool rpg, and this one caught my attention. but since i haven't tested any beta, i cannot judge right now.
hope to see you online.
