Related to the RMAH of D3, I have a feeling (and that's all it is, so don't take it as anything more) that the ability to use real money to buy in-game power will have a very strong impact on whether or not Diablo 3 achieves any sort of 'e-sport' status. Not that I ever understood how any game that gives different players different resources to begin with could be an 'e-sport,' but I have heard talk that people think Diablo 3 has the potential to become stuff.

I mean, after they put in PvP. Whenever that will be.

I don't think D3 will be a serious eSport game, and Blizzard said they won't try to make it one. One of the problem is obviously the gears.

You will have to pay to win, if you want to win in PvP, that's why they just advertise it as a fun game mode and not an eSport thing.

You won't have to pay to win at all.
It is a possibility that buying items through the cash shop will get you gear a little faster (just like buying champions in LoL makes you obtain them faster), but it's perfectly feasible to get gear through your own work.

Don't want to burst your bubble, never played LoL, but if the drop rates are any similar to d2, than no, you'll not be able to get best items that are rare.

You probably haven't followed diablo 3 much then.
I personally think the droprates will already be higher, but even if they aren't, you'll still have the huge magic find buffs while doing proper farming.
And even without it, you can still get all the items, it just takes longer.

Yee, i didn't follow it very good, but items will shure not drop easy then in d2, becouse of RMHA. They don't want it to be overflowed with items. Easy to find items = useless RMHA. Blizard don't went thru all this trouble with RMHA so it becomes useless, as they said it themselves.

Except you missed an important part of my post.
Guild wars 2 will feature huge content updates, POE, obviously, will not.

Except champions in LoL are balanced, unlike items in D3 and hack'n slash in general (that's what makes the game appealing)

What about items do you think is unbalanced? Also, you can't call champions in LoL balanced, that's purely subjective.

It takes time to farm items. Example from D2, how many people have an Enigma?
Take a look at the runwords ordered by rank, you have to farm quite a lot to have those powerful items.

That's one of the difference between Diablo and Guild Wars. GW always tried to do a PvP game, and they had to control items.
Diablo was never a PvP game in the first place, and they reminded it with D3 by saying PvP wasn't their first priority.

As for balanced in LoL, I think Riot is doing a good job, or else there won't be an eSport scene.
Of course there are still some champions better than other, I guess it's pretty hard to balance 90+ champions. ANet still tries to balance GW1 aswell...
It's hard to attain perfection, but they're trying the best they can.

An example of balance in LoL, Elements had to break down even more his tier list because tier 1 and 2 had too much champions... It means you have a good amount of choice and sometimes, even a tier 3 champ can be tier 1 based on the team comp.

I can't think of any specific post that declares this but I think it's a safe bet given their track record with GW1. ArenaNet like to do stuff on the fly and they don't usually charge for it. I think they like to save their major content additions for expansion packs (that's the basic model), which I have no problem with at all. And I refuse to believe GW2 will be static between such expansions.

On the other hand, the HDD requirement for vanilla Gw2 is apparently 25 gig.

Dassa big game out of the box, man.

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.
yep, I agree they released free content (like GW Beyond), but did they have to do a dick move with the inventory?
Micro transactions from costumes weren't enough?

And I agree GW2 will be damn big.
