Time Capsule from PoE Closed Beta -- a classic PoE vs D3 thread circa 2012
don't worry next addon will give access to level 80 and the next one to 99 if they don't fraction it more...
bashiok implied that in a BN thread... when itemization is the only real way to differenciate you from any other cookie cutter build you'll enjoy it a lot! it was like a good dream when BC come to put aside your Epic long time earned stuff in killing godlike mobs with 40 other people for (green) dagger of the owl with better stats wich drop on a big stupid boar... yeah right... ... nothing

" That's what my mind calls "Blizzard's Legacy": Character progression equals gear progression. Now, don't get me wrong: Replacing [Ye Olde Butcher's Nail File Of Rust] with [Ye New Meatgrinder of Ogre Decapitation +3] makes the player feel like he's grown in power. But there need to be other choices, too. Just hopping on the levelling train, getting the same stat increases everyone gets, getting the same skills everyone gets - it bores me. There's no surprises, there's no room to eff up your build (since all builds of a class are totally changeable at any given second, and how your "character innate" power increases is decided by the system). There is no room for exploration or individuality. And when you have reached max level (having all the things every other character of your class has), the only thing to grow in power and/or differentiate yourself is gear. Why does that remind me so of WoW? Anyway: For me that warps one of the reasons I enjoy any sort of RPG: To design a unique(ish) character tailored to what I want from that toon. Growing in power is secondary to me, nay: tertiary at best. I want to journey my way. And not hop on the rails of the "but it's balanced" Express. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human. Last edited by Avireyn#0756 on Mar 29, 2012, 6:11:21 AM

To be honest I don't really see a problem with that.
Diablo 2 did the exact same thing - The ladder reset all your gear and characters once a year I believe? So that's nothing you can complain about really. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

New level cap is NOT an ARPG way to do... 99 or 100 nearly unreachable level in the original game IS...
this is just a thing to sell more and more to generation of kids used to WoW's way of progression. it's my right to dislike that... ... nothing

It's just a good and sensible way to be able to add new abilities to the game with this current system.
It wouldn't make much sense if an expansion came and it had the exact same level cap and some skills crammed in. Sure, this is how D2 did it, but D2's expansion completely changed the gameplay through items that were 10 times as good as they previously were. They don't want D3 to go through a change like that, they just want to be able to add content in a good way. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

" yeah I guess :) you can't please everyone. As for new content, if it's interesting, I may buy it. If you cry because your items you grinded became useless with the new expansion and you didn't enjoy playing the game to get them, it's not my fault ^^; It's the dilemna with WoW players, they don't play the game, they work for it and grind their life, and then they cry when Blizzard add more grind... *sigh* PoE forums ignore list script:

" I very much agree on that: There are really many people that invest heavily in a game without having fun - just so they can be more powerful than others? The first "gear reset" in WoW taught me one thing very well: Play to have fun. If you're not having fun while playing, you shouldn't be playing. If your fun is entirely tied to the reward you're getting, you should be aware enough to know that the second you don't play any more, ANY and EVERY thing gained and gotten in that game is worth nothing any more. What stays with you is: Memories, the fun you had, the friends you made, the things you learned. It's a good lesson in life, too. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

" Naw, even in Prophecies you could hit 20 in no time. It required farming/grinding, but it could be done. I think I did it in 4 hours once, maybe 5. These are the things you do when you've played a game to death, after all. If you just went through the campaign, you hit 20 around about the time you get to the desert, from memory. That wasn't 40 hours in the story, unless you really took your time. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

" hahaha :D ho god... what a community :D "D3 doesn't have PvP so it sucks! PoE doesn't have PvP but it's better than D3! But I'm not in the beta so I can judge both games!" can't stop laughing ^^; see, every posts about D3 sounds like that here, people "assume" a lot of things... For your information: Diablo 3 Path of Exile The edit for D3 is better, but if someone can find a better example for PoE... @CharanJaydemyr: yeah I guess I took my time, it's been a long time and I can't remember exactly how long it took, but yeah you are level 20 in the desert, for the ascension. I guess you're talking about taking the shortcut through Shiverpeaks? :) PoE forums ignore list script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/162657 0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally.
