Its actually quite entertaining imo.

Or anything killed by a chandelier. After dying, they fly higher than the effing camera. Seems there really is no ceiling in those dungeons. Kinda weird since they are, you know, underground.

No arpg actually has ceilings. Pointless waste of your Pc's recourses. But yeah, I do agree they should tone those down a little on the barb.

I know, I know :-). Was just a small barb on the overall dungeon-design of the Cathedral levels. They're more akin to "lofty bridges in a massive underground cavern/dome" than to the original labyrinth. Meaning that one thing I'm missing is the "closed-in-ness".

But then, they're practically taken 1:1 from Torchlight.

Just wanted to add to this, diablo 3 and the type of dungeon the cathedral used was revealed back in 2008.

Torchlight came out in 2009.

Quite so. Nevertheless, Torchlight came out three years ahead of Diablo III, and so, in my mind, this is a "reminds me of Torchlight".

Yeah that's true, I felt the same way.
But I was just sayin, it's more likely to be the other way around. :P

True. But that's the price Blizzard pays for their long development cycles.

I mean, that was part of the reason Torchlight was created in the first place: To show Blizzard that making good games doesn't have to take forever.
The first thing that came to my mind after I had entered the Torchlight Catacombs was "I bet they put in that style just so they could rub it in Blizzard's face that they'd done it quicker".

Well that's a really flawed way of thinking.
Torchlight barely had any content and the classes didn't need to be balanced at all (and they weren't).

It was still a great game though, I think I put like 70+ hours into it until I used some cheats and ruined it for myself. :(

It barely had content and yet you played it for upwards of 70 hours (and probably would have gone on, hadn't you cheated)?

Plus: Why would Diablo III need balanced classes? They cut PvP from release. It's now PvE only, just as Torchlight was.

Torchlight, as you said yourself, was a great game. It was in development less than a year (9-11 months, depending on whom you ask).
Diablo III has been in development for about ten years (and has been scrapped once or twice entirely, iirc) and from my PoV has not substantially more to show for it.

Though that wasn't my point at all. My point simply was: Blizzard took too long, and others capitalized on it. Well done to them.
